RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CORRECT INSTALLATION OF WEIGHT INDICATORS

- The entry into the cable board of cells must be independent ( on one side or the other of the
board ) and directly connected to the terminal board of the device without breaking by bearing
terminal boards or passing through troughs containing other cables.

- Use the " RC " filters on the instrument-driven coils of the remote control switches.

- Avoid inverter, if inevitable, use filters and separate with sheets.

- In case of 230Vac supply, use a 380/230Vac transformer avoiding to use the 380Vac phase and
the neutral.

- The installer of the board is responsible for securing the electrical safety of the indicators.

- It is a good norm to let the indicators always switch on to prevent the formation of condensation.

OPERATION

CALIBRATION : Instrument calibration can be performed by setting the full scale of the instrument
and the sensitivity of load cells (THEORETICAL CALIBRATION) or by means of a SAMPLE
WEIGHT.

BATCHING START :
- via keyboard by setting formula and desired cycles
- via external contact, programming the formula from external contacts or keyboard
- via PC or PLC through the Communication Protocol
AUTOMATIC BATCHING: The operator (or the external logic) selects the desired formula by
pressing F1 to F9 keys and starts the batching by pressing the START key or closing the Start
contact. The instrument checks that the Approval contact is closed and the weight is lower than the
minimum weight, it executes the autotare, then closes the contact of the first product in formula,
reached the Slow value closes the relevant contact. Once the programmed value less the fall value
has been reached the instrument opens the contact of the product and after the waiting time is over
( 999,9 sec. ) memorizes the consumption and closes the contact of the following product, so on
until the last product. The instrument closes the cycle end, it will be opened again at the reaching of
the minimum value programmed in the constants and after the safe emptying time is over ( 999,9
sec. ). If more than one cycle has been programmed, the instrument will automatically carry on as
soon as the approval contact has been closed, otherwise it is possible to press the START key to
carry on the batching.

BATCHING FOR SINGLE PRODUCT: The operator select the desired formula and quantity; by
confirming with ENTER the product contact will be closed, reached the Slow value the relevant
contact will be closed, Once the programmed value less the fall value has been reached the
instrument opens the contact of the product, memorizes the consumption and starts the print (if
enabled). Then the operator will decide if batch other products otherwise unload the balance.

CONSUMPTION MEMORIZATION : At the end of any batching the instrument memorises the
consumed quantity for each product. Consumption value can be directly visualized on the display of
the instrument in standby mode. Deleting the total of an individual product is possible. Deleting the
total of an individual product is possible.

SERIAL PORTS: The instrument is equipped with an RS232 serial output (COM 1) and an
RS422/485 serial output (COM 2).
According to serial ports setting, executable via keyboard, the following connections can be
performed:
- 24 column printer, with possibility of performing an automatic print out of batching data, time and
instrument identification number at the end of the cycle. Constants, formulas and consumption
values can be printed out via keyboard.
- remote display for weight transmission.
- PC / PLC : Communication Protocol for PC, ModBus, ProfiBus (only with converter model
Modprofi) for weight reading, formula programming and reading, batching start and stop, batched
net weights acquisition, consumption reading.

STARTING PROCESS
Supply the instrument, the message "LA x x.x." (version) will appear for 1 second then the weight
value, wait for about 5 minutes so that all components reach a steady temperature.
Make sure that the displayed weight is positive and that increases if one subjects the container to a
force weight. In case the instrument displays a negative value or " no Conn ", ”SEGn InF” , “no-
SEGn” messages, check the load cells connection and the correct load cells installation (loading
direction).
Check the correct mechanical installation of the container ( the position of tubes, mounting
accessories, etc. ).

TARE ZERO-SETTING
( ONLY FOR INSTRUMENT ALREADY CALIBRATED IN LABORATORY)

Make sure that the container is empty, during the weight displaying phase press the CONST key
and the " CoStAntI " message will appear for 2 seconds, while this message is displayed press
the F2 key, the message " CAL " alternated to the tare value will appear ( for example: " CA 240 " ).

After the tare zero-setting, the tare value will be memorized in the “ZEro” parameter ( CONST + F1),
take note the value (see page 11). In case of tamperings or instrument replacement, if it is not
possible to unload the product to repeat the operation, you can write the memorized “ZEro” value in
the “tArA” parameter (CONST + F1).

-9-
INSTRUMENT CALIBRATED IN LABORATORY

In this case the instrument is supplied pre-calibrated; proceed with a calibration check.
Set values :
“CAPAC” ( ); “SEnSIb” ( ); “dIVIS” ( )

INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION CHECK:

Ensure that the container is empty and that the instrument displays zero. Place a significant amount
of products in the container (equal to at least 50% of the maximum quantity to be weighed) and
ensure that the instrument indicates the correct value.
- If there is a significant difference between the displayed value and effective amount ( greater
than 1-2% ) check that this is not caused by a mechanical fault and check the electrical connections
of the cell and the cell loading position.
- If the difference is not significant but around 1-2 % proceed with paragraph WEIGHT DISPLAY
CORRECTION VIA KEYBOARD.

CORRECTING DISPLAYED WEIGHT FROM KEYBOARD

PREMISE: If the instrument indicates a weight that is different from actual product weight inside the
container, make sure that the difference remains proportional also for different weight (for example:
if with 1000kg the instrument shows 1008 , make sure that with 500kg the instrument shows 504),
so proceed to correct the weight from keyboard.
In case of the difference is not proportional, make sure that this is not caused by a mechanical fault

During the weight displaying phase press the CONST key, the " CoStAntI " message will appear for
2 seconds; while this message is displayed press F2, the " CAL " message will appear followed by
a numerical value, press the NET key, the " PC 0 " message will appear, program the value of
weight that is into the container using the numerical keys.

“tArA” ( kg , only whole numbers) : Tare ; it is used for setting the tare value when it is not possible
to unload the product to execute a TARE ZERO-SETTING.

“SEnSIb” ( mV/V ) : Load cell sensitivity, it is used for Theoretical instrument Calibration.

“dIVIS”: (divisions) : System’s resolution.

“PortAtA” ,( ) only reading parameter ; capacity : after calibration (theoretical or with

sample weight) this parameter shows the value memorized in the “CAPAC” parameter. It changes
after a CORRECTING DISPLAYED WEIGHT VIA KEYBOARD.
Take note this value. In case of tamperings or instrument replacement, if it is not possible to unload
the product or using a sample weight to repeat the THEORETICAL CALIBRATION, you can write
the memorized “ PortAtA ” value in the “ CAPAC ” parameter.

“ZEro” ,( ) only reading parameter ; after the tare zero-setting, the tare value will be
memorized in this parameter.
Take note the value; in case of tamperings or instrument replacement, if it is not possible to unload
the product to reset the tare, you can write the memorized “ZEro value in the “ tArA ” parameter .

THEORETICAL INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION

The entry of “CAPAC”, “SEnSIb” and “dIVIS” parameters, enables instrument calibration without
the need for a sample weight. Obviously the calibration settings should be tested with a known
quantity of product.
