PERSUAIVE ESSAY

Sleep is Bad for the Well-Being

If you are sleeping less than seven hours on a regular basis it can eventually lead to
a multiple of health risks that affect your entire body. First, without enough sleep, your
brain and body systems won’t function normally. This means, it can also dramatically
lower your quality of life and wellbeing.

Second, lack of sleep can negatively affect both short and long term memory and
concentration. It weakens your immune system which makes you more susceptible to
communicable diseases. You will be more prone to accidents and injuries due to
drowsiness and poor balance. There’s a high risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and
heart disease.

Finally, chronic sleep deprivation can make you very moody, emotional, and quick
tempered. To be specific it can even escalate to serious mental issues like anxiety and
depression. If you are sleep deprived student or employee never underestimate the
importance of sleep. Stimulants, like caffeine, aren’t enough to override your body’s
need for sleep. In fact, these can make sleep deprivation worse by making it harder to
fall asleep at night. The only solution is to get that 8 full hours of rest that your body so
desperately needs!

Fears

Everybody has something they are afraid of, but are fears just an overreaction
caused by our brain? When I went volunteer immersion for summer we got to live in a
farm and sleep with only with a sleeping bag and net to protect ourselves from bugs and
bites. One night, while eating our dinner peacefully we could hear a noise from the roof.
It was sound of small squeaks and rattling. My teachers said that it was most likely the
rats that have infested the roof and could smell food from the kitchen. Everyone finished
eating and we all gathered back to our sleeping premises and all were fast asleep.
Suddenly, I wake up in the middle of the night when I feel something go against my leg.
I screamed a rat has come inside my net and push against my feet! Terrified, no one
woke up from my scream so my first instinct was to throw my blanket against the rat
and get ready for combat. It stopped moving and without thinking I slowly reached out
to poke it. Still, it did not move and I thought to myself “How could it died so easily!”. I
reached for my blanket and lifted it. It was just my friend’s foot!

Fears can sometimes be funny instead of frightening. It can be irrational, over

the top, or just a figment of your imagination. One thing for sure is that it cannot be
controlled even if you wanted to!

3 Ways to keep a Positive Mindset

Positive thinking is the must for every person. Here are the four steps to follow in
order to keep that optimism in place. First, start your day with positive affirmation!
There times that things start to go haywire that no amount of preparation can escape
from. Instead of letting this dominate you, start thinking positively by telling yourself
positive statement. Be kind to yourself.

Second, choose to find the positive side of bad things. For example, you are tired from
working all day. At least you were able to spend your time productively. Don’t forget to
find the humor in bad things! You can always turn a situation upside down by looking at
situations in a different and more positive mindset.

Finally, focus on the present. Learn from the past and look forward to the future. Forget
everything that will hinder you from finding what truly matters which is your situation
right now. Time spent on negative self-talk is time wasted. Time spent on positive self-
talk leads to a more confident, stress free, and happy day!

Not Today Satan

There are a lot of ways to distract oneself from Horror movies. According to
Sofia Aglipay you should always remember that these movies are not reality. For
instance, most of scenes shown in a movie are made using special effects with the help of
make-up transformations. You can always watch the behind the scenes of how the
movie was shot to reassure that it was all scripted. According to Carmela Bartolome, it is
always a good decision to bring someone when watching a scary film. This will help you
feel more at ease that you are not alone. You can seek comfort from them when you start
to get really scared. According to Chianna San Juan, you should use some type of excuse
to go out of the cinema during the movie. To illustrate, you can use going to the
bathroom as an excuse to leave the cinema or to take a break from the movie. You may
also go out to buy snacks that you can use to distract yourself with.

After watching a scary movie there are post horror movie calm-down methods you can
do. According to my sister, looking at funny videos, memes and post can help you forget
about a scary movie. To explain this gives you the chance to laugh it off and redirect
your emotions to something positive. Lastly, According to my mom, the best way to not
get scared after watching a horror movie is to pray. A case in point, praying to your
guardian angel will make you feel safe and at ease when you sleep and protect you from
anything evil, dangerous, or satanic.
