INTRODUCTION
The scope of this policy is to ensure that equipment colours, colours of pilot devices and wire
colours are uniform across the 360 MW Power Plant of Itaqui, Brazil.
The criteria to be used for the colour policy are based on the Brazilian and/or international
standards:

1 PURPOSE
1.1 This specification shows, in detail, the painting systems to apply at Supplier facilities
and at field. Regarding definitions, codes, regulation, prescriptions for Painting
Contractor/Supplier, surface preparation, general prescriptions for paints and
applications, quality control, tests, final documentation and safety, M006-VZ-SG-
0_000_001 shall be used.
For ”Instrument & Electrical Colour Policy” see Spec M006-YN-PC-0_000_001
1.2 The machinery and equipment shall be painted in accordance with this specification
and with M006-VZ-SG-0_000_001. The machinery and the equipment shall have to
be packed in order to reduce as much as possible any type of dam-ages during
transportation to field. No handling shall be performed before the coating system is
cured to an acceptable level. Packing, handling and storage facilities shall be made of
non-metallic type.
2 PAINTING SYSTEMS
2.1 The table 1 and 2 shows the painting systems to be applied at supplier facilities and
at field respectively.
4 PAINTING TRADEMARKS
4.1 The painting contractor/supplier shall select the painting products from the following
list of manufacturer: Carboline, Hempel, Jotun, International Paint, PPGAmercoat,
Sigma, Sumarè, Euronavy and Renner. Engineering Company shall approve each
painting product.
Before the award of the Contract, the name of the proposed paint supplier and
applicator together with a quality assurance program, will be submitted for approval.
The painting contractor/supplier shall write to engineering company to obtain
technical approval when selecting other brand name of paints.

1 OBJETIVO
1.1 Esta especificação mostra, em detalhes, os sistemas de pintura a serem aplicados nas
instalações do Fornecedor ou em campo. Considerando as definições, códigos,
regulamentações, prescrições para pintura do Prestador de Serviços/ Fornecedor, preparação
de superfície, prescrições gerais para tintas e aplicações, controle de qualidade, testes,
documentações finais e segurança, o M006-VZ-SG-0_000_001 deverá ser usado.
Para “Política de Cores para Instrumentos & Elétrica” vide Espec. M006-YN-PC-0_000_001
1.2 O maquinário e equipamento deverão ser pintados de acordo com estas especificações e com
o M006-VZ-SG-0_000_001. O maquinário e o equipamento deverão ser embalados de forma a
reduzir ao máximo quaisquer danos durante o transporte para o campo. Nenhum tipo de
manuseio deve ser feito antes que o sistema de revestimento esteja seco à um nível aceitável.
Os tipos de embalagem, manuseio e armazenamento devem ser construídas com elementos
não metálicos.

1 PURPOSE
1.1 This specification covers the method for corrosion proofing of the metallic surfaces
from atmospheric attack by means of protective painting.
This specification shall be applied on equipment, tanks field assembled, piping,
structural, support, miscellaneous steel, bolting and all the other metallic surfaces
requiring corrosion protection.
The machinery shall be supplied according to paragraph 4.
1.2 This specification does not cover the corrosion proofing in case that the metal surface
can be undergone to:
- contact with chemicals (acids, alkalis, organic solvents, gases, etc.);
- mechanical action (abrasion, etc.);
- fire;
- micro-organisms (marine fouling, bacteria, fungi, etc.).
1.3 The following materials shall be painted:
- insulated austenitic stainless steel with operating temperature ranging from 50 to
200 °C;
- ferritic steel
All the other materials (e.g.: hot dip galvanized carbon steel, aluminium, nickel alloys,
etc.) shall be painted only when required.
Electroplated ferritic steel (e.g.: zinc, chromium, cadmium, etc. applied by electrolysis)
shall be considered, from a corrosion point of view, as bare and painting is required.
1.4 The following parts shall not be painted:
- Plastic materials
- insulation material and jacket;
- internal surfaces of piping and equipment, unless otherwise specified;
- wrought surfaces, identification plates, instrument panels, valve rods and threads,
pump and engine shafts, mechanical seals, push buttons, concrete brickwork;
- all materials and parts that obviously do not have to be painted.
2 DEFINITIONS

2.6 Field painting is the on-site painting of steel surfaces before, during or after erection.
2.7 The term "equipment" includes vessels, columns, heat exchangers (shell and tube
only), etc. The equipment, in function of the dimensions, can be shop or field
assembled (i.e.: sphere, storage tanks, etc.). Equipment structure steel shall be
painted with the painting system suitable up to 100 °C, unless differently indicated on
data sheet.
The term "piping" includes pipes, fittings, flanged and not flanged valves, etc.
The term "structural steel" includes the main steel structures.
The term "support steel" includes all manner of supports for piping.
The term “dynamic piping support” includes metallic and non metallic expansion
joint and spring support.
The term "miscellaneous steel" includes ladders, platforms, stairs, hand rails, floor
plates, gratings, cable conduits and support for both instrumentation and electrical.
The term "bolting" includes all type of bolts, nuts and washers used for structural
steel and anchor bolts.
The term "austenitic stainless steel" includes all materials in AISI 300 series (AISI
304, AISI 316, etc.).
The term "ferritic steel" includes: low temperature carbon steel, carbon steel and low
alloy steel (Cr ≤ 9% and Ni ≤ 1%).
The term "machinery" includes: rotary machines (excluding shelf items), packages,
bridge cranes, high and medium voltage motors, instrument valves (on-off, slide,
etc.), control and safety valves, plate heat exchanger. The items here not included
(e.g. low voltage motors) or that will be installed indoor with ventilation system can be
painted as per manufacturer standard.
2.8 The roughness (Rz) is the surface profile of the substrate measured as "the average
value of the absolute values of the heights of five highest profile peaks and the depths
of five deepest profile valleys within the sampling length" (ISO 4287/1).
2.9 The operating temperature that shall be used to select the painting system is the
maximum operating temperature made provision for the item. This temperature shall
take into consideration any process condition such as steam out, reactor beds
regeneration steps, etc.
2.10 Ethyl silicate inorganic zinc rich and inorganic zinc rich as intended in this
specification are the same paint.
2.11 The term “dynamic piping support” includes metallic and non metallic expansion
joint and spring support.
3.1 Work shall be performed according to the following Codes and Standards, the coating
manufacturers' recommendations and this specification. Unless specifically
designated by date, the latest edition of each publication shall be used, together with
any amendments/supplements/revisions.
3.2 EN ISO or ISO standards (EN ISO 12944 parts 1-8 are the reference standards for
protective paint systems).

4.1 For outdoor installation of machinery, the following points shall be strictly followed.
a) High and medium voltage motors, frame of plate heat exchangers, cranes,
pressure vessels of packages and base plates shall be delivered fully painted
using this specification as working procedure without any deviation.
b) Rotary machines as min shall be subjected to the following.
1) Before hydraulic test, the casing shall be subjected to:
- Steel preparation as per paragraph 7.1 of this specification.
- Abrasive blasting as per ISO 8501-1 grade Sa 2.5 on ferritic material.
The roughness obtained shall guarantee perfect primer adhesion.
No further abrasive blasting and steel preparation shall be allowed after
machining.
2) After hydraulic test, if flash rusting is occurred, hydro-blasting as per SSPC-
SP12 WJ2 is the preferred method for restoring the original conditions.
Alternative method shall be proposed by Supplier for Engineering Company
review. When suppliers propose their own painting system and this is
approved by the Engineering company then details of all such systems
together with the documents “Painting systems” and “Painting Specifications”
shall be included in the O&M manuals.
The casing shall be immediately coated by weldable primer applied at 25µm of
dry film thickness.
3) After assembly, the surface to be painted shall be degreased as per SSPC-
SP1; the method selected shall not spoil the metallic surface or remove or
softening the weldable primer already applied. Areas where the shop primer
has been damaged shall be restored to original condition using mechanical
tools compatible with type of primer and the status of casing. Supplier shall
propose the method of surface preparation for Engineering Company review.
The painting system to be applied shall be preferably selected among those
mentioned in M006-VZ-SC_000_001. However, the Supplier can propose the
own painting system but this remains subjected to Engineering Company
approval.
The proposed painting system shall be in compliance with the following
parameters:
- Environment aggressiveness as per EN ISO 12944-2 C5-M.
- Expected life as long as 10 years defined as per EN ISO 12944-5 C5-M.
- Operating temperature as reference temperature defined as per paragraph
2.9.
- Surface preparation as indicated in the technical data sheet of the primer.
- Thickness of each layer as indicated in the technical data sheet.
c) Tests
The following tests shall be carried out before, during and after application and the
values measured shall be recorded on daily logs.
1) Items mentioned at paragraph 4.1a): see paragraph 10 of this specification.
2) Items mentioned at paragraph 4.1b):

- ISO 8503-2 or ASTM D4417 method C; acceptance criterion: as per paint
manufacturer recommendation (roughness test);
After hydraulic test: visual inspection of the metallic surface as per:
- Weldable primer shall coat the whole surface.
During application of full painting system
- Recording of ambient conditions (air and metal temperature, relative
humidity and dew point); acceptance criteria: as per product data sheet.
- SSPC-SP1; acceptance criterion: free from visible grease, oil, etc. (surface
cleaning);
- ISO8501-1: acceptance criterion: grade Sa 2.5 or alternative grade suitable
for the selected primer (surface preparation).
Final inspection:
- Visual inspection of the painting system; acceptance criteria: free from: sag,
runs, blistering, wrinkling, spots and no different colour shade and/or gloss
shall be admitted.
- Dry film thickness; acceptance criteria: as per accepted painting system.
4.2 For dynamic piping support the following points shall be followed.
a) Spring support
1) Can and rod shall be delivered hot dip galvanized according to ASTM A123
2) Carbon steel clamp operating up to 150 °C shal l be delivered hot dip
galvanized according to ASTM A123
3) Carbon steel clamp operating above 151 °C shal l be:

7 SURFACE PREPARATION
7.1 The metallic surface to be protected by paint shall comply with ISO 8501-3 grade P2.
In particular, the following shall be satisfied:
- Free from weld spatter with under cutting;
- Sharp edges rounding off or chamfered;
- Weld seams continuous with regular wave and smooth.
7.2 Before starting any de-rusting operation or painting application (when the primer has
been just applied), the surface shall be cleaned from grease, oil, dirt and salt. These
matters shall be removed according to SSPC SP1: the method selected shall not
spoil the metallic surface or remove or softening the primer already applied. It is
forbidden to use chlorinated solvent on austenitic stainless steel.
The water shall be pure, clean and lacking of suspended solid.
These operations shall be performed manually, with the help, whenever necessary, of
hard fibre brushes. It is allowed to use high-pressure water up to 100 bar max.
7.3 The original conditions of steel surfaces shall be classified according to the ISO 8501-
1 or SSPC VIS 1-89.
7.4 Surface condition after cleaning shall be in compliance with the required grade of the
ISO 8501-1 or SSPC standards.
7.5 Surface preparation shall be carried out only when the steel temperature is at least 3
°C above the dew point temperature of the surroundi ng air (see table 1).
Temperature and humidity shall be continuously monitored.
Surface preparation shall not be carried out under the rain or in a misty atmosphere
or in presence of dew and on moist surfaces.
7.6 The material used for blasting the bare surface shall be able to obtain the required
grade of the ISO or SSPC standards and to produce a roughness (Rz) that guarantee
a perfect primer adhesion. The surface profile Rz shall be in accordance with the
technical data sheet of the primer or with the requirements of the paint manufacturer.
Abrasives for blast cleaning ferritic steels are specified in ISO 8504-2. Abrasive
material for blast cleaning consisting solely of steel shot shall not be used for surfaces
to be coated with inorganic zinc rich primers. A mixture consisting of steel shot and at
least 25% (wt.) steel grit is acceptable.
Material selected shall be certified free of lime, dust and chlorides.
Austenitic stainless steels shall be blasted with corundum. Glass beads shall be used
only to remove the weld oxide and not as abrasive to blast the austenitic stainless
steel.
Hot dip galvanized steel shall be blasted with soft mineral sand with a mohs hardness
≤ 5 or organic media, such as corn cobs or walnut shell, according to ASTM D2092.
It is forbidden to use carbon steel shots and/or grits to blast austenitic stainless steel
and hot dip galvanized steel surfaces.
Austenitic stainless steel and hot dip galvanized steel shall be blasted only to obtain a
suitable roughness.
7.7 Compressed air for blast cleaning shall be dehumidified and free of oil or any similar
impurities. Non-oil lubricated compressors are recommended.
7.8 Blasting outdoors is authorised only when the place is sufficiently equipped to avoid
environment pollution in the surrounding area. The maximum value of breathable

dust, lacking in asbestos and silica, is 10 mg/m TLV - TWA, unless otherwise
indicated in local laws.
Surface preparation as per SSPC-SP11 has to be authorized by Engineering
Company and it can be used only for repairing of limited areas or when abrasive
blasting is not really feasible or permissible.
7.9 Surface preparation by means of blasting shall be performed when wet paint is not in
progress in the surrounding area.
7.10 The primer that has been just applied on the surface shall:
- be perfectly adherent and free from voids;
- have homogeneous thickness.
Scratches and/or defects shall be repaired by means of full system as from surface
preparation.
8.1 All the paints shall be delivered to the shop or at field in original, unopened cans with
labels intact. Minor damage to cans is acceptable provided that the cans have not
been punctured or the lid seal broken.
The label shall report, at least: name of manufacturer, type of paint and related
thinner, instructions for processing, colour, batch number, analysis of contents,
identification of all toxic substance, weight (gross and net), filling date and expiration
date.
All cans of paint shall remain unopened until required for use. The paints must be
used before their shelf life has expired.
Storage place shall:
- be ventilated to avoid solvent vapours accumulation and not exposed directly to
sun light;
- have a temperature ranging from 10 to 40 °C.
Paint, which has deteriorated during storage, shall not be used.
8.2 The paint shall be thinned and/or mixed according to manufacturer's data sheets. The
mixing shall be very accurate and carried out by a mechanical mixer. The paint shall
be used only within the limits of its pot-life and shall be discharged before the pot-life
time has expired. The pot-life of any paint is specified on data sheets.
8.3 Different brands or types of paints shall not be inter-mixed and the thinner shall be
that recommended by paint manufacturer.
8.4 The painting shall be carried out only at the following conditions:
- air temperature: 5 ÷ 40 °C. Min value of 10 °C f or two components catalyses
paints;
- air relative humidity: ≤ 85%. Min value of 50% for zinc primer application;
- steel temperature: at least 3 °C above the dew p oint temperature of the
surrounding air (see table 1).
Temperature and humidity shall be continuously monitored.
Painting shall not be carried out under the rain or in a misty atmosphere or in
presence of dew and on moist surfaces.

The surface painted shall be protected by: rain, dust, salts and pollution during both
application and curing.
8.5 Only skilled and qualified workers shall carry out all the painting operations (surface
preparation included). The standard SSPC PA1 “Shop, field and maintenance
painting” shall be followed as guide for each operation. EN ISO 12944 part 7 can be
used as alternative.
8.6 The primer application shall be performed before any visible rusting occurs and within
maximum 4 hours from surface preparation. Should the surface be contaminated prior
to painting, the surface shall be restored before application.
8.7 The primer shall be applied on the welds only after completion of all required pressure
testing.
8.8 Painting application shall be carried out, preferably, by airless spray. Engineering
Company shall authorize other application methods.
Stripe coating method, by brush or roller, shall be applied on all the areas difficult to
reach such as: welds, bolts, nuts, corners, edges, etc. The stripe coating shall be
applied before each paint layer.
8.9 Intermediate and/or finish coating application shall be performed only if the previous
coat is in perfect condition.
8.10 The application of the whole painting system shall occur without sag, runs, blistering,
wrinkling and spots. The colour shade and the gloss shall be even.
8.11 The minimum dry film thickness shall suit to the requested value. Additional coats
shall be applied when the request value is not obtained. The maximum dry film
thickness shall suit to the value indicated in the technical data sheet of the product.
Dry film thickness higher than the max allowed by technical data sheet shall be
repaired as per paint manufacturer recommendation.
8.12 Each coat shall have a different colour from the previous one, to prevent unpainted
areas and to facilitate inspection.
9.13 The over-coating time indicated in the data sheets shall be used to establish the time
schedule. Prior to over-coating the inorganic zinc rich primer shall be carried out the
rub test (see paragraph 10.2 f).
8.14 Zinc rich primers shall be in compliance with SSPC - Paint 20 level 1 or ISO 12944-5
paragraph 5.2.
8.15 Not insulated parts belonging to insulated piping and/or equipment (e.g.: flanges,
nozzles, etc.) shall be painted with the corresponding system used for not insulated
surface. The painting shall be applied also to the insulated part for an extension of
approximately 30 cm (see figure), when possible.

8.16 Intermediate coating on inorganic zinc shall be applied with the method of the "mist
coat" to remove the air and the water entrapped.
8.17 Stainless steel shall never come in contact with paint containing low melting point
metals and in particular zinc or zinc salts. The Painting Contractor/Supplier shall
cover the stainless steel surfaces whenever application of paint containing low
melting point metals is in progress near stainless steel surface.
9 REPAIRING
9.1 On principle, the repairing shall be carried out starting from surface preparation and
from application requirements as indicated in this specification.
Paint manufacturer recommendation shall also be used.
9.2 Welding and flaming weaken the binder of the paint. Therefore, in addition to the
visibly defected surface at least 50 mm wide area shall be removed.
9.3 In case of repairing, the affected areas shall be delimited by using adhesive tape to
form squares or rectangles.
9.4 In repairing hot dip galvanized structures, damaged areas shall be treated as follows:
- surface preparation: SSPC-SP10 or SSPC-SP11 (for limited areas), Rz as per
technical data sheet or paint manufacturer recommendation;
- primer: organic zinc rich applied at the same thickness of the original coating.
9.5 In case of dissimilar joint seams between two different steels (for example carbon
steel/stainless steel), also the more noble steel surfaces shall be painted by a width of
50 mm in addition to the welding seam unless otherwise specified. Paints filled with
zinc or zinc salts cannot be used for repairing stainless steel and carbon steel joints.

10.3 Engineering Company has the right to take samples of paint for quality tests. Should
the sample fail to meet the required specification, the Painting Contractor/Supplier

11 DOCUMENTATION
11.1 Painting Contractor/Supplier shall submit at the end of the work the following
documentation:
- Daily log;
- Trade name of the paints (technical data sheets);
- Repairing (if any) of what was done.
12 SAFETY
12.1 The basic concept of safety in surface preparation, coating application and inspection
is being knowledgeable in safety procedure, proper use of safety equipment and
being aware of the hazard involved. Before starting coating application, it is
recommended that Supplier read all available safety data of handled materials.
Painting Contractor must have a written Safety program. Engineering Company
before starting any work shall approve the Safety program. Painting Contractor shall
be responsible for the safety of his personnel.
Painting Contractor must observe SSPC-PA Guide 3 "A guide to safety in paint
application" and all the safety prescriptions relevant to plant area.

1 OBJETIVO
1.1 Estas especificações cobrem o método de proteção contra corrosão de superfícies metálicas
pelo ataque atmosférico através de pintura protetora.
Estas especificações podem ser aplicadas a equipamentos,tanques montados em campo,
tubulações, estruturas, suportes e diversos em aço, fixadores, e todas as demais superfícies
metálicas que necessitem proteção contra corrosão.
O maquinário deverá ser fornecido de acordo com o parágrafo 4.
1.2 Esta especificação não cobre proteção contra corrosão caso a superfície metálica seja
submetida à:
contato com produtos químicos (ácidos, bases, solventes orgânicos, gases, etc.);
ação mecânica (abrasão, etc.);
fogo;
micro-organismos (algas marinhas, bactérias, fungos, etc.).
1.3 Os seguintes materiais deverão ser pintados:
aço inoxidável austenítico isolado com temperatura operacional variando entre 50 e 200 °C;
aço ferrítico
Todos os demais materiais (por exemplo: aço carbono galvanizado a quente, alumínio, ligas
de níquel, etc.) deverão ser pintados apenas quando necessário.
O Aço ferrítico galvanizado (por exemplo: zinco, cromo, cádmio, etc. aplicados por eletrólise)
deve ser considerados, do ponto de vista da corrosão, como sem proteção e a pintura é
necessária.
1.4 As seguintes peças não deverão ser pintadas:
materiais plásticos
materiais de isolamento e cobertura;
superfícies internas de tubulações e equipamentos, a menos que de outro modo
especificado;
superfícies moldadas, placas de identificação, painéis de instrumentos, hastes de
distribuidor e roscas de válvulas, eixos de bombas e motores, selos mecânicos, botões de
pressão, alvenaria de concreto;
todos os materiais e peças que obviamente não precisam ser pintados.

2.6 A Pintura em campo é a pintura das superfícies de aço antes, durante ou depois da
montagem.
2.7 O termo "equipamento" inclui reservatórios, colunas, trocadores de calor (apenas casco e
tubo) etc. O equipamento, em função das dimensões, pode ser montado em fábrica ou em
campo (i.e.: esferas, tanques de armazenamento, etc.). Equipamentos de estruturas de aço
serão pintados com o sistema de pintura adequado até 100 °C, a menos que de outro modo
indicado na folha de dados.
O termo "tubulação" inclui tubos, conexões, válvulas flangeadas e não-flangeadas, etc.
O termo "estruturas de aço" inclui as principais estruturas de aço.
O termo "suporte de aço" inclui todas as formas de suporte para tubulações.
O termo “suporte dinâmico de tubulação” inclui juntas de dilatação e suporte de molas
metálicos e não metálicos.
O termo "diversos em aço" inclui escadas, plataformas, escadas fixas, corrimãos, pisos,
grades, conduítes de cabeamento e suporte instrumental e elétrico.
O termo "fixadores" inclui todos os tipos de parafusos, porcas e arruelas utilizados para
estruturas de aço e chumbadores.
O termo "aço inoxidável austenítico" inclui todos os materiais da série AISI 300 (AISI 304,
AISI 316, etc.).
O termo "aço ferrítico" inclui: aço carbono de baixa temperatura, aço carbono e baixa liga
de aço (Cr ≤ 9% e Ni ≤ 1%).
O termo "maquinário" inclui: máquinas rotativas (exceto itens de prateleira), embalados,
pontes rolantes, motores de alta e média voltagem, válvulas de instrumentos (liga-desliga,
distribuidora, etc.) válvulas de controle e segurança, chapas de trocador de calor. Os itens não
inclusos aqui (por exemplo, motores de baixa voltagem) ou que serão instalados internamente
com sistema de ventilação podem ser pintados conforme os padrões do fabricante.
2.8 A aspereza (Rz) é o perfil de superfície do substrato medido como “a media dos valores
absolutos das altas dos cinco picos de perfil mais altos e as baixas das cinco menores baixas de
perfil da faixa de amostragem" (ISO 4287/1).
2.9 A temperatura operacional que será utilizada para escolher o sistema de pintura é a
temperatura operacional máxima prevista para o item. Esta temperatura deverá levar em
consideração quaisquer condições de processo, tais como desenrugue, etapas de regeneração
dos leitos de reação, etc.
2.10 Etíl silicato rico em zinco inorgânico e zinco inorgânico enriquecido, conforme referidos
nestas especificações, são a mesma tinta.
2.11 O termo “suporte dinâmico de tubulação” inclui juntas de dilatação e suporte de molas
metálicos e não metálicos.
3.2 Os padrões EN ISO ou ISO (EN ISO 12944 partes 1-8 são os modelos de referência para
sistemas de pintura protetora).

completamente pintados utilizando estas especificações como procedimento de trabalho
sem que haja qualquer desvio.
b) Máquinas rotativas como mínimo devem ser submetidas ao seguinte:
1) Antes do teste hidráulico, o casco deverá ser submetido à:
Preparação do aço conforme parágrafo 7.1 destas especificações.
Jateamento abrasivo conforme ISO 8501-1 grau Sa 2.5 em materiais ferríticos. A
aspereza obtida deverá garantir perfeita aderência da base.
Após a usinagem não devem ser realizados jateamentos abrasivos.
2) Após o teste hidráulico, caso ocorra oxidação instantânea, hidrojateamento conforme o
SSPC- SP12 WJ2 é o método preferencial para restauração das condições originais.
Métodos alternativos deverão ser propostos pelo Fornecedor para que a Empresa de
Engenharia revise. Quando fornecedores propõem seu próprio sistema de pintura e este é
aprovado pela Empresa de Engenharia, então os detalhes desses sistemas, juntamente
com os documentos “Sistemas de pintura” e “Especificações de pintura”, deverão ser
incluídos nos manuais de operação e manutenção.
O casco deve ser imediatamente revestido por base soldável aplicada a 25µm de
espessura de película seca.
3) Após montagem, a superfície a ser pintada deverá ser desengraxada conforme o SSPC-
SP1; o método escolhido não deve danificar a superfície metálica ou remover ou abrandar a
base soldável já aplicada. Nas áreas em que a “shop primer” foi danificada devem ser
restauradas as condições originais utilizando ferramentas mecânicas compatíveis com o tipo
de base e a condição do revestimento. O Fornecedor deverá propor o método de
preparação de superfície para que a Empresa de Engenharia revise. O sistema de pintura a
ser aplicado deverá ser selecionado, de preferência, entre os mencionados no M006-VZ-
SC_000_001. Contudo, o Fornecedor pode propor o próprio sistema de pintura, mas este
permanecerá sujeito à aprovação pela Empresa de Engenharia.
O sistema de pintura proposto deverá estar em cumprimento com os seguintes
parâmetros:
Dano ambiental conforme o EN ISO 12944-2 C5-M.
Validade com duração de 10 anos definida pelo EN ISO 12944-5 C5-M.
Temperatura operacional como temperatura de referência definida conforme o
parágrafo 2.9.
Preparação de superfície como indicada na folha de dados técnicos da base.
Espessura de cada camada conforme indicada na folha de dados técnicos.
c) Testes
Os seguintes testes devem ser realizados antes, durante e depois da aplic ação e os
valores medidos deverão ser registrados em entradas diárias.
1) Itens mencionados no parágrafo 4.1a): vide parágrafo 10 destas especificações.

k) fornecer, para os sistemas de pintura, um período de garantia de três anos. Uma vez que o
período de garantia tenha expirado, o grau de deterioração deve ser no máximo igual ao
grau Ri 3 do ISO 4628-3.
6.1 O equipamento, a tubulação e suporte de aço deverão ser pintados seguindo estas
especificações como procedimento de trabalho.

7 PREPARAÇÃO DE SUPERFÍCIE
7.1 A superfície metálica a ser protegida pela pintura deve cumprir com o ISO 8501-3 grau P2.
Principalmente, o seguinte deve ser contemplado:
Livre de respingos de solda com rebarbas;
Bordas afiadas arredondadas ou chanfradas;
Junções continuas soldadas com ondas regulares e polidas.
7.2 Antes de iniciar qualquer operação de desoxidação ou aplicação de pintura (logo após a
aplicação da base), a superfície deverá estar limpa de graxa, óleo, poeira e sal. Estes
elementos devem ser removidos de acordo com o SSPC SP1: o método escolhido não deve
danificar a estrutura metálica ou remover ou abrandar a base já aplicada. É proibido o uso de
solventes clorados no aço inoxidável austenítico.
A água deve ser pura, limpa e não deve conter sólidos em suspensão.
Estas operações devem ser realizadas manualmente, com a ajuda, quando for necessário,
de escovas de cerdas duras. É permitido o uso de água pressurizada no máximo até 100
bar.
7.3 As condições originais das superfícies de aço serão classificadas de acordo com o ISO 8501-1
ou SSPC VIS 1-89.
7.4 As condições de superfície após a limpeza devem estar de acordo com o grau requerido pelos
padrões ISO 8501-1 ou SSPC.
7.5 A preparação de superfície deve ser realizada apenas quando a temperatura do aço estiver
pelo menos 3 °C acima da temperatura do ponto de orvalho em relação ao ar em volta (vide
tabela 1). A temperatura e a umidade devem ser monitoradas constantemente.
A preparação da superfície não pode ser realizada sob chuva ou neblina ou quando houver
presença de orvalho e em superfícies úmidas.
7.6 O material usado para jatear as superfícies desprotegidas deve ser capaz de obter o grau
requerido pelos padrões ISO ou SSPC e produzir uma aspereza (Rz) que garanta a perfeita
adesão da base. O perfil de superfície Rz deverá estar de acordo com a ficha de dados
técnicos da base ou do fabricante de tintas. Abrasivos para o jateamento de limpeza de aços
ferríticos estão especificados no ISO 8504-2. Materiais abrasivos para jateamento de limpeza
consistindo apenas de granalha de aço não devem ser usados para superfícies a serem
revestidas com bases de zinco inorgânico enriquecido. Uma mistura consistindo de granalha de
aço esférica e no mínimo 25% (wt.) de granalha de aço angular é aceitável.
O material escolhido deve ser certificado livre de cal, poeira e cloretos.
O aço inoxidável austenítico deve ser jateado com corindo. Contas de vidro devem ser usadas
apenas para remover óxido da solda e não como abrasivo no jateamento do aço inoxidável
austenítico.
O aço galvanizado a quente deve ser jateado com areia mineral fina com dureza 5 de Mohs ou
meios orgânicos, como sabugo de milho e casca de nozes, conforme o ASTM D2092.
É proibido o uso de granalhas esféricas de aço carbono e/ou granalhas angulares de aço
carbono para jatear aço inoxidável austenítico e superfícies de aço galvanizadas a quente.
O Aço inoxidável austenítico e o aço galvanizado a quente devem ser jateados apenas para
obter a aspereza compatível.
7.7 O ar comprimido para jateamento de limpeza deve ser desumidificado e livre de óleo ou
quaisquer impurezas semelhantes. Compressores não lubrificados a óleo são recomendados.
7.8 O jateamento em áreas externas é autorizado apenas quando o local for suficientemente
equipado para evitar poluição do meio ambiente na área ao redor. A quantidade máxima de
poeira respirável, que não contenha amianto e sílica, é de 10mg/m³ - Valor Admissível de
Exposição – Média Ponderada Cronológica, a menos que de outro modo indicado pelas leis
locais.

8.1 Todas as tintas devem ser entregues, na fábrica ou em campo, nas embalagens originais,
lacradas, com os rótulos intactos. Danos mínimos nas latas serão aceitos desde que as latas
não tenham sido perfuradas ou não apresentem o selo da tampa rompido.
O rótulo deve informar no mínimo: o nome do fabricante, o tipo de tinta e diluente específico,
instruções para processamento, cor, número do lote, conteúdos de análise, identificação de
todas as substâncias tóxicas, peso (bruto e líquido), data de fabricação e de validade.
Todas latas de tinta deverão permanecer lacradas até que sejam requisitadas para uso. As
tintas usadas antes da expiração do prazo de validade.
O local de armazenamento deverá:
ser ventilado para evitar acumulação de vapores do solvente e não deverá ser
diretamente exposto à luz do sol;
possuir temperatura variando entre 10 e 40 °C.
A tinta que estragar durante o período de armazenamento não deverá ser utilizada.
8.2 A tinta deverá ser diluída e/ou misturada de acordo com a ficha de dados do fabricante. A
mistura deverá ser precisa e realizada por misturador mecânico. A tinta deverá ser utilizada
apenas dentro dos limites de validade de sua embalagem e deverá ser descartada antes que a
validade da embalagem expire. A validade da embalagem de qualquer tinta é especificada na
ficha de dados.
8.3 Marcas ou tipos de tinta diferentes não devem ser misturados e o diluente deve ser indicado
pelo fabricante de tintas.
8.4 A pintura deverá ser realizada apenas dentro das seguintes condições:
temperatura do ar: 5 ÷ 40 °C. mínimo de 10 °C para tintas catálises de dois
componentes;
umidade relativa do ar: menor ou igual a 85%. Mínimos de 50% para aplicação de
bases de zinco;
temperatura do aço pelo menos 3 °C acima da temperatura do ponto de orvalho do ar
ao redor (vide tabela 1).
Temperatura e umidade devem ser monitoradas continuamente.
A pintura não deve ser realizada sob chuva ou neblina ou na presença de orvalho ou em
superfícies úmidas.
A superfície pintada deve ser protegida contra: chuva, poeira, sal e poluição durante a
aplicação e secagem.

8.5 Apenas trabalhadores treinados e qualificados devem realizar todas as operações de pintura
(incluindo a preparação de superfície). O padrão SSPC PA1 “Pintura em fábrica, em campo e
de manutenção” deverá ser seguido como guia para cada operação. O EN ISO 12944 parte 7
pode ser utilizado como alternativa.
8.6 A aplicação da base deve ser realizada antes que surjam oxidações visíveis e dentro de no
máximo 4 horas após a preparação de superfície. Caso a superfície seja contaminada antes
da pintura, esta deverá ser restaurada antes da aplicação.
8.7 A base deverá ser aplicada nas soldas somente quando forem completados todos os testes de
pressão.
8.8 A aplicação da pintura deve ser realizada, preferencialmente, por pulverizador à vácuo. A
Empresa de Engenharia deverá autorizar outros métodos de aplicação.
O método de retoques, por pincel ou rolo, deve ser aplicado em todas as áreas de difícil acesso
como: soldas, parafusos, porcas, cantos, extremidades, etc. O retoque deverá ser aplicado
antes de cada camada de tinta.
8.9 A aplicação de cobertura intermediária e/ou final deverá ser realizada apenas se a camada
anterior estiver em perfeitas condições.
8.10 A aplicação do sistema de pintura completo deve ocorrer sem escorrimentos, bolhas, rugas
e manchas. A tonalidade de cor e brilho deve ser homogênea.
8.11 A espessura de película seca mínima deve ser compatível com o valor exigido. demãos
adicionais devem ser aplicadas quando o valor exigido não for obtido. A espessura máxima de
película seca deve ser compatível com o valor indicado na ficha de dados técnicos do produto.
Espessura de película seca maior que o máximo permitido pela ficha técnica de dados deverá
ser reparada conforme as instruções do fabricante de tintas.
8.12 Cada demão deve ter uma cor diferente da anterior, para prevenir de áreas que não foram
pintadas e para facilitar a inspeção.
8.13 O tempo de revestimento indicado na ficha de dados deve ser utilizado para estabelecer um
cronograma. Antes de revestir a base rica em zinco inorgânico o teste de lixa deve ser
realizado (vide parágrafo 10.2 f).
8.14 Bases ricas em zinco devem estar de acordo com o SSPC - Tinta 20 nível 1 ou ISO 12944-5
parágrafo 5.2.
8.15 Peças não isoladas que façam parte de tubulações e/ou equipamentos isolados (por exemplo:
flanges, bocais, etc.) devem ser pintadas com o sistema de pintura correspondente utilizado
para superfícies não isoladas. A pintura também deverá ser aplicada em peças isoladas por
uma extensão aproximada de 30 cm (vide figura), quando possível.

8.16 A cobertura intermediária em zinco inorgânico deverá ser aplicada com o método de
"nebulização" para retirar o ar e a água que ficaram presos.
8.17 O aço inoxidável nunca deve entrar em contato com tintas que contenham metais com baixo
ponto de fusão e principalmente zinco ou sais de zinco. O Prestador de Serviços/Fornecedor
de Pintura deverá cobrir as superfícies de aço inoxidável sempre que houver aplicação de
tintas que contenham metais com baixo ponto de fusão em progresso próxima à superfície de
aço inoxidável.
9 REPAROS
9.1 À princípio, os reparos devem ser realizados desde o início conforme os requisitos de
preparação de superfície e aplicação conforme indicado nestas especificações.
As instruções do fabricante de tintas também devem ser utilizadas.
9.2 Soldagem e chamas enfraquecem a liga da tinta. Por essa razão, juntamente com
superfície visivelmente defeituosa, um mínimo de 50 mm de largura de área deve ser
removido.
9.3 No caso de reparos, as áreas afetadas devem ser delimitadas com fita adesiva para formar
quadrados ou retângulos.
9.4 No caso de estruturas galvanizadas a quente, as áreas danificadas devem ser tratadas da
seguinte forma:
preparação de superfície: SSPC-SP10 ou SSPC-SP11 (para áreas limitadas), Rz
conforme a ficha técnica de dados ou as instruções do fabricante;
base: zinco orgânico enriquecido aplicada com a mesma espessura do revestimento
original.
9.5 No caso de junções desiguais entre dois aços diferentes (por exemplo, aço carbono/aço
inoxidável), também as superfícies de aço mais nobre devem ser pintadas por uma extensão
de 50 mm à partir da junção da solda a menos que de outro modo especificado. Tintas que
contenham zinco ou sais de zinco não podem ser utilizadas no reparo de junções de aço
inoxidável e aço carbono.
10.1 No PO identificado pela Empresa de Engenharia, uma reunião de pré-inspeção será agendada
90 dias antes o início de qualquer atividade de pintura.
O objetivo da reunião de pré-inspeção é assegurar:
a compatibilidade da fábrica
a disponibilidade de instrumentos calibrados e certificados
a prontidão e habilidade do Prestador de Serviços/Fornecedor de Pintura para realizar
a pintura anti-corrosiva de acordo com este procedimento de trabalho e com os
padrões citados.
10.2 O Prestador de Serviços /Fornecedor de Pintura deverá realizar o controle de qualidade
durante e após a aplicação da tinta através dos testes seguintes e enviar os documentos
relevantes para a Empresa de Engenharia. A tabela abaixo representa uma instrução geral
para inspeção a ser considerada durante as atividades de pintura. Esta instrução também é
aplicável ao maquinário (nesses casos o teste de freqüência deve ser baseado em lotes de
produção para atividades de pintura).
O Prestador de Serviços/Fornecedor de Pintura deve anexar esta instrução ao processo de
pintura a ser apresentado ou propor um equivalente. Apenas testes tecnicamente aplicáveis
ao fornecimento serão citados.
