A. Reviewing previous lesson or Preliminaries:

presenting the new lesson  Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
 Sitting Arrangement
 Review
“In our last topic, we discussed basic economic problems confronting
the development of the Philippines in the 21 st century. Who can recall
the examples of economic problems in our last topic

“Relating to our previous topic, what do you think would happen to the
demand of commodities if our economy rises”
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Motivation:

“Unscramble the words below and describe its meaning.”

NEMDDA Demand
PYSPLU Supply
TCOYMMOODI Commodity
ERIPC Price
NICMOE Income
KTRMAE Market

C. Presenting examples/instances of the Based on the given activity, what do you think our lesson this morning
new lesson class?

Great! Ok this morning we are going to learn one of the most

important aspects in the study of economics. The analysis of demand
and supply. But let’s focus first in studying the demand.
The teacher will then let the students read the objectives.
D. Discussing new concepts and Individual activity
practicing new skills # 1 The teacher will show pictures of situations that would change the
demand of a product.
1. What do you think will happen to the demand of a product if there’s
a sell?
2. What would happen to the price of rice and corn after some rice and
corn field were damaged because of storm.
(Rice is a basic commodity, so the quantity demanded is constant)
3. What if the new pack design of cigarettes has health warning and
the tax for cigarettes has increased?
4. In events like graduation and school prom, what do think will
happen to the demand for beauty services?
5. Trendy clothes, what will happen to the demand?

Now, you all know what demand is. Next were going to learn how to
describe/present the movements of price and demand in the demand
curve.

E. Discussing new concepts and Discussion

practicing new skills # 2
 What is Demand curve?
 Other factors affecting the demand of a commodity
 Changes in Demand curve
F. Developing mastery Now, let us know how far you have gone our discussion for today.
(Leads to Formative Assessment 3)
DO: Individual Activity
Answer the following question.
I. True or False
1. When the demand Increases the supply decreases - T
2. When the Demand Increases the price of the Commodity
decreases. - F
3. When the Price Increases the demand of the commodity
increases. - F
4. The Prize of commodity become lower after the tax – F
5. When the price of high value product like jet fuel increases, the
quantity demanded decreases. – F
ll.
6. Explanation:
In December, the price of ham rises and the quantity of trees
sold also rise. Is this a violation of the law of demand?

(No. This is not simply a move along the demand curve here. In
December, demand for ham rises, causing the curve to shift to
the right. This allows both the price of ham and quantity sold of
ham to rise.)

G. Finding practical applications of The teacher will ask some questions to the students:
concepts  Can you give an example of a commodity that is demanded here
and skills in daily living
in Osmeña but limited in supply?
(Fish – no fish market)
(School supplies)
 What if the price for that commodity has increased? Would the
demand of that commodity decreased or not?
 Is location a factor for the increased of that commodity?
H. Making generalizations and
abstractions
about the lesson
 Is it important to know why the price of goodsservices increase
or decrease Why
(It is important, so the people will understand the current situation of
the product. Example, the increased of price of tang juice because of
tax implemented on the product.)
 Is there a significance in understanding the demand and price of
a product or services as you as a citizen?
(The significance of understanding the demand, price and quantity of a
product as a citizen is to have knowledge on how market changes
overtime. There is commodity that is demanded for only a short time,
and there’s a basic commodity that is constant. But the price of the
commodity will always change due to some situations and events)
I. Evaluating learning Application:
Direction:
- Students will be divided into four groups.
- Each group will be provided with materials needed for the activity.
- The teacher will give situation to each group and the students will
determine how the curve move or shift.
 The banana producer in Albor market hasn’t delivered bananas
for two weeks now, so the demand for the substitute fruit
oranges increased. What will happen to the demand curve of
bananas
 Christmas is fast approaching, what would happen to the
demand curve of ham
 The price of TANG juice increased.
 It’s rainy season, and the price of umbrella has increased. What
will be the demand curve show

Present the work to the class.

J. Additional activities for application or Do advance reading on the supply curve.
