Gentlemen:

Please consider me an applicant for the position of clerk-stenographer as advertised in the

Times Journal yesterday.

I understand that you want a young lady with extensive training in stenography and typing. She
should also have a pleasing personality, good command of the English language, understanding of
reception work, and knowledge of handling business correspondence.

By next semester, I will graduate from a two-year secretarial course, major in office
management, at the University of the East. My steno and typing speed are 80-90 words per minute and
40-50 words per minute, respectively. I believe I have developed the potentialities of making myself fit
for the position of clerk-stenographer. Through other courses studied, I obtained a background in
business communication.

At present, I am a trainee at the office of the UE College of Secretarial Education which gives me
some experience in office routine work. Thus, I hope I can justify my practical and technical know-how in
office management as well as my ability to get along with people.

May I have a personal interview at your convenience.

Please refer to the enclosed data sheet for my address and my other qualifications.

Respectfully yours,

Eula Mae M. Suban
