Course Summary

The driving force for further developing LTE towards LTE Advanced is to provide higher bitrates in a
cost efficient way. This course covers the major aspects of LTE Advanced and gives delegates a
thorough understanding of the new functionalities introduced.
The main new functionalities introduced in LTE-Advanced are Carrier Aggregation (CA), enhanced
use of multi-antenna techniques and support for Relay Nodes (RN) - and these are covered in detail
on the course. In order to achieve the high Peak data rates required in LTE Advanced, carriers will
be aggregated together to provide an increased spectrum
bandwidth, up to a maximum of 100 MHZ. The new protocols and
LTE Channels introduced with LTE Advanced are covered on this
course, as well as the enhancement or changes to the exiting
channels.
The Increased peak data rate in the Downlink is 3 Gbps, and in the
Uplink it is 1.5 Gbps. The Higher spectral efficiency increases the
number of simultaneously active subscribers and improves
performance at cell edges. An analysis and discussion of these
improvements is covered on the course.

Learning with PACE

The key to effective learning is how the competencies (knowledge, skills and confidence ) are developed,
and in particular, how they are applied, both within the training and then more importantly in the work place.
Our programmes are designed around this belief using the principle of PACE – Preparation, Application,
Consolidation, and Experience / Engagement. Some of the PACE features listed below will be included as
standard, depending on your specific programme. We will build the appropriate features into your pro-
gramme, but would be happy to discuss any specific requirements you may have:

Preparation Consolidation
 Pre course learning module(s)  Additional Telecoms Virtual Campus tutorials
 Online Webinars  On-going Technology Analysis and white papers
 Technology Primer  Post course tutor support
 Topic-Specific Primer  Networking & interaction via our Linked-In Groups
 Industry Update  Post-course assessment / quiz
 Pre-course assessment / quiz  On-going post-course Development using the CDJ

Application Experience / Engagement

 Industry analysis from Informa Telecoms and Me-  Highly interactive delivery style

Outcomes and Competency Development

Participants will develop or be able to:

 A thorough understanding of the additional functionalities that LTE Advanced Implementation
introduces to the network
 A solid foundation on which to base decisions about LTE Advanced adoption, implementation
time-lines and deployment
 Evaluate implementation options for LTE Advanced
 Assess the impact of LTE Advanced on the existing or planned LTE roll-out
 Assess the impact of LTE Advanced on the commercial offering - from a technical / network
perspective
 Contribute much more effectively to trial
initiatives, internal planning sessions and
technology strategy debate within their own
organisation
 Make more informed decisions on overall
technology implementation and procurement -
helping to ensure decisions are commercially
viable, minimise risk, and are in line with the
strategy and goals of the wider organization

Our Trainers

We only use trainers and programme directors that satisfy the following three criteria:

 Experts in their field

 High level of Industry Experience
 Expert facilitators and training professionals

All our trainers have undergone a rigorous selection process and are subject to continuous monitoring and
evaluation. Each trainer is accredited for specific courses or topic areas.
Whether engineers or business experts, all our trainers are required to continue their own development within
their specialist areas, and to broaden their Industry view of trends, best practice and technology. This is
achieved by our on-going work with many tier 1 operators and vendors, and by full exposure to Informa
Telecoms & Media research and world-wide events. Sample biographies for some of our trainers can be
found here: http://www.telecomsacademy.com/our-team/
