Expected Outcomes: Students will be able to put into practice what they have learned the
previous classes in the food and drinks unit

class written by the teacher on the whiteboard. Students recall what
they have learned the previous class.

Core of the class 5’ Students receive all the instruction needed to develop the test.
Pre-stage Questions related to the instructions are answered.

Date: October 1st , 2010 Level: 5th grade A Time: 90 minutes

Expected Outcomes: Student will practice the use of Preferences, likes and dislikes related to
food and drinks.

5’ Students will participate in a warm up activity

Core of the class 15 Students will answer orally questions about likes and dislikes. The
Pre-stage teacher will help them by showing them flashcards.

Students are asked to read the reading of the page 76, and underline
While-stage 25’ the vocabulary studied in the previous classes about food and
vegetables.

Post-stage 25’ Students are asked to work in the activities of the page 77.
Controlled practice activities.

Student will practice food vocabulary with Bingo activity

drinks.

3’ Students will participate in a warm up activity

Core of the class 15’ Students work in pairs and they finish the healthy Menu of their own
Pre-stage restaurant with the food and drinks studied in the previous class.
Students are required to deliver the Menu to the teacher and will be
marked with 0.2 which will be added to the next evaluation.

While-stage 20’ Students recognize the use of countable and uncountable noun and
they will write in their notebooks some examples given by the teacher.

Student will practice the use of countable and uncountable noun with
7’ the help of flashcards showed by the teacher.

Post-stage 15’ Students will work individually in a control practice activity worksheet
prepared for the teacher. (countable and uncountable nouns)

Students will practice reading comprehension in the page 75 of their


15’ book. They will underline the vocabulary they remember from the
previous classes. They will work in the exercises 6 and 7 from the
same book.

Closing 5’
The students practice one again the countable and uncountable noun
with the flashcards

3’ Homework is given by the teacher: Write down in their notebooks

2,5’ Students will participate in a warm up activity. Students will listen


to Classical Music to control the levels of stress and anxiety.

Core of the class 10’ Students check the homework given by the teacher the previous class.
(page77, exercise: 9)
Pre-stage
Students will be introduced to the use of how much and how many in
15’ order to ask and answer questions about quantities. Students write
down in their notebooks the rules for countable and uncountable
nouns.
10’ Students are asked to work in the exercise of the page 80 (6,7)

While-stage 20’ Students are asked to say chorally the number from 1 to 10. They are
helped by the teacher, who will show them the number in flashcards.
Then are asked to listen to the numbers from (100 to 1000) and repeat
them, chorally. Listening 37 and 38 from the book. Students write
down in their notebook the numbers written in the whiteboard by the
teacher.

Post-stage Students work in a worksheet prepared by the teacher. (worksheet


attached)

Closing Students are asked to say aloud some numbers written by the teacher at
the whiteboard.
Students are asked to answer some question about quantities.
Students say good bye to the teachers.

Date: September 22nd , 2010 Level: 5th grade A

Skills: writing- speaking.

Expected Outcomes: Students will practice pronunciation of Food Vocabulary and will
continue with the menu mini project.

Resources: whiteboard, markers, color cards and papers.

Core of the class 40’ Students take unit test, Unit 4 “At home”, (vocabulary,
Pre-stage reading comprehension, etc)

While-stage 10’ Students repeat chorally pronunciation of food vocabulary with the
help of flashcards showed by the teacher.

Post-stage 30’ Students are asked to work with the worksheet of vocabulary given by
the teacher the previous class. Students which were absent receive the
worksheet as well.
Students work in pairs and they continue designing a healthy Menu for
their own restaurant with the food and drinks studied in the previous
Closing class. They will select a name for their restaurant as well.

quantities.

15’ Students participate in a warm-up activity related to the topic of the


lesson to be taught.

Core of the class 10’ Students are introduced to the new unit through having a little
Pre-stage discussion about the question “What do you eat for snack at school”.

Two students selected by the teacher will perform in front of the class
While-stage 15’ the dialogue in the page 73 of the student book. To finish this stage,
students will answer the question; do you prefer fruits, sandwiches
or crisps and ice-cream for the break?

Students are showed a power point presentation with different group of


food: fruits, vegetables, meat, Snacks and desserts and drinks.

Students work in pair designing a healthy Menu for their own


Post-stage 25’ restaurant with the food and drinks studied in the previous stage. They
will select a name for their restaurant as well.

Closing
5’ To check understanding Student are asked closed questions about the
topic recently studied. Ex: Is milk a vegetable or a Drink? Do we
have to eat fruits and sandwiches or chips and coke in our break time?

8’ Students finish the class with short game or activity related to the topic
recently studied.

Students say good bye to the teachers.
