Wiper/Washer Switch Test/Replacement

1. Remove the driver’s dashboard lower cover (see section 20).


2. Remove the steering column covers (see section 17).
3. Disconnect the 8P and 5P connectors from the windshield/rear window wiper/washer switch, then remove the two screws and
the switch.
4. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table. If there is no continuity, replace the
switch.

Rear Window Intermittent Wiper Control Unit Input
Test

1. Remove the left rear side shelf (see section 20).


2. Disconnect the 20P connector from the control unit.
3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
ΠIf the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
ΠIf the terminals look OK, make the following input tests at the connector.
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all input tests prove OK, the control unit must be faulty; replace it.

Replacement
1. Remove the tailgate trim panel (see section 20). 1. Remove the tailgate trim panel (see section 20).

3. Disconnect the 4P connector from the motor.

and the wiper motor.

3. Test the motor by connecting battery power to the No. 1


terminal and ground to the No. 4 terminal.
ΠIf the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly,
replace it.
4. Reconnect the 4P connector to the wiper motor.
5. Connect an analogue voltmeter between the No. 2 (+)
and No. 3 (-) terminals.
6. Run the motor by turning the wiper switch ON.
ΠThe voltmeter should indicate 0 V and 4 V or less
alternately.
