Just to give a little background my problems started last August(can't believe still suffering almost year had gone by) with little
burning around the belly button, which then became sharp stabbing pains, by first GI was diagnosed with mild gastritis(upper GI endoscopy, and
sigmoidoscopy) and H pylori positive, which was successfully eradicated, went on prevacid, which didn't do much for me was ok for 3 weeks then
pains started, second upper GI endoscopy was done, this time had gastritis plus mild duudenitis, but the biopsy did not confirm gastritis. Was
then on carafate and nexium 40mg, pains were still there plus really bad burping, this GI wasn't doing much, so changed GI, this one did
gasteroscopy and endoscopy, didn't find anything, then went for capsule endoscopy to see if I have crohn's(awiting the results). meanwhile I
started getting this funny throat peoblems 5 weeks ago, where my throat felt very dry, felt sore , voice changed, went to GP, said it's viral, but I
had no cold or flu symptoms, I gave it 3 weeks, then made an appoitment with an ENT, he looked inside, and said voice box looks a bit red, most
probably due to acid reflux, told him that I never feel the acid in my throat, but I do burp a lot, he perscribed antibiotics for one week, just incase
it's an infection, and said if it didn't get better with antibiotics I should then for 2 weeks increase my nexium to twice daily 40mg one at night, and
one in the morning.
I do get a lot of phlegm, but this feeling in the throat is very strange, it is not there evryday, some days is worst than others, I feel like I need to
drink to keep it moist, and feels like I need to cough to clear my throat.
I am getting really scared, has anyone else experienced this? could this be due to my digestive problems(gastritis ?)
Hi everyone, I'm new to this site, and I just have a few questions about acid reflux... I think this is what I have been suffering from
but doctor's appt is still 2 weeks away. For the last couple months I've had chest discomfort (feels like a "kink") on the right side under the breast
and also sometimes my upper/mid back aches on the right side. Could acid reflux cause this? I know one of the symptoms of acid reflux is "chest
pain" but I haven't been able to find any specific information about it. I also suffer from frequent heartburn (but the discomfort in my chest is there
with or without heartburn).
Also, does anyone else experience a salty taste in their mouth? I do from time to time... and think it might be related to acid reflux but not sure??
Any responses appreciated!
Thanks for reading,
CMG
Hi,
Has anyone been diagnosed with this? For four months, I have had nearly constant acid reflux after eating any food. It started after taking a
round of Metronidazole for a sinus infection. It's not horrible, but is annoying. Liquids do not bother me. And ironically, the more acidic the
beverage I drink after solid foods, the better job it does at taking away the acid taste in my throat. Even better than antacid tablets. I do not have
heartburn pain, etc. I've been on various PPIs since this all started--one pill each day. They all help, but do not make the symptoms disappear.
I am going through a diagnostic process for a rheumatological condition. Two rheumatologists feel strongly that I have early/incomplete lupus.
However, the gastro doctor I saw this week said I could have early scleroderma. I have possible malar rash (faint pink) or rosacea. But other
than the acid reflux, I have no bothersome symptoms. Gastro is recommending an endoscopy. She said that if they determine I have
hypersensitive esophagus that they would put me on small dose of antidepressants. Has anyone been through this treatment, and has it helped?

Does anyone know what causes hypersensitive esophagus, especially if not due to rheumatological diseases? I have been under extreme
stress for about one year.
Any feedback would be terrific.
Thanks--
i FIND IT INSANE THAT A GP WANTS TO PUT YOU ON A PRESCRIPTION BEFORE THEY EVEN FIND OUT WHAT IS
GOING ON INSIDE YOUR CHEST. i AM HAVING A TERRIBLE TIME SWALLOWING ..NO ACID OR ANYTHING BUT WHEN i EAT SOLIDS IT
PAINS. I HAD AN ACDF C5 C6 SURGERY AND HAVE A C6 7 DISC BULGE. iT IS BULGING BADLY ENOUGH TO CAUSE HAND PAIN AND
FACE PAIN AND ALL HESE ARE NEUROPATHIC PAINS. INSTEAD i TELL MY GP AND HE PUTS ME ON NEXIUM (OR SOMETHING LIKE
THAT) SO I WENT TO ANOTHER DR AND HE DOES THE SAME THING W/O SCOPING. MEANWHILE I HAVE HISTORY OF NECK
HERNATIONS AND SURGERY. I SAID PERHAPS i SHOULD HAVE A SCOPE AND THEY BOTH SAID TRY THIS FIRST. ITS CRAZY TO
INGEST A MEDICINE FOR WHICH YOUMAY NOT HAVE THE RIGHT PROBLEM.
SO MY WORDS OF ADVICE, AS DESPERATE AS I AM RIGHT NOW WITH THROAT PROBLEMS ...FIND OUT WHAT YOU ARE EATING
THAT GOT YOUTO THIS POINT AND DON'T RELY ON TAKING A PRESCRIPTION UNLESS THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE....AFTER ALL
WE ARE WHAT WE EAT AND YEARS OF EATING CRAPPY FOOD LEADS TO DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS. TRY A NATUROPATHIC DR AND
REALLY BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR DIET THESE PAST YEARS. LOOK AT THE AD WHERE THEY CABBY HAS INDIGESTION AND THEN
POPS A PILL SO HE CAN CONTINUE TO EAT THAT SAME GARBAGE./DIET
THINK ABOUT THE BIGGER PICTURE AND YOUR ROLE IN YOUR OWN HEALTH. AFTER ALL WE ARE ALL GUILTY OF EATING AND
DRINKING SOME PRETTY RAUNCHY FOOD THESE PAST YEARS.
MY POINT IS DON'T POP A PILL TO FIX IT BUT LOOK AT WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOUR OWN BODY ...REMEMBER IF YOU WANT
TO PLAY YOU HAVE TO PAY AND THAT GOES FOR YEARS OF EATING POORLY AND NOT EXERCISING. HAVE YOU EVER
CONSIDERED THE FACT THAT YOU ARE GOING TO THE DR TO GET BETTER AND YET YOU RETURN TIME AND TIME AGAIN. TRY
GOING TO A NATUROPATH AND WITHIN A FEW VISITS YOU MAY NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN FOR A YEAR OR ANOTHER ISSUE LATER
DOWN THE ROAD.
\
SO AFTER HAVING BEEN HANDED MEDICINE TWICE FOR SOMETHING NEITHER DRS DIAGNOSED THROUGH PROPER THOROUGH
INVESTIGATION IT REMAINS UP TO YOU TO LOOK AFTER WHAT IS IN YOUR BEST INTERESTS...NOT THEIRS$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
ps THE PROBLEM WITH MY SWALLOWING IS RELATED TO MY NECK DISC AND NOTHING IS REMOTELY WRONG WITH MY
STOMACH....IT IS PRETTY SCAREY TO THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT i WOULD HAVE BEEN INGESTING A PILL FOR QUITE A WHILE
EVERY DAY FOR SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T NEED FIXING.

I came down with LPR about 2 months ago. My ENT first put me on 40mg protonix 2xday. Since it didn't give 100% relief my GI
switched me to 40mg nexium 1xday. He said nexium is much stronger than protonix and will give better relief. Nexium has given no relief so I'm
back on the protonix.
Do weaker PPIs work better for some people?
I have not been on this site for a long time. Two years ago, I suffered from sever reflux that lasted for about 9 months. I never
totally got rid of it but it was better until now. Two years ago I have two scopes, cat scans, upper Gi. They did not find anything but small polps
whic they said was nothing to worry about. Anyway I was on nexium and stayed on it up to now.
A month ago the first day of my cruise, I got a sore throat, cough and burning. It lasted all throught the cruise and continues now. Ya wait for 8
monts for a vacation and spend it eating mashed potatos. Anyway went to my PCP who said that I should take 2 40mg of nexium together for two
weeks and then go back to the one. He felt that thats should help. I am suffering so much pains in my back burning in my stomach, sore throat
and cough. You all know what I mean. I am afraid to take two nexiums together. I did take two one in the morning and one at night today. Maybe
I will take two tomorrow but I am afraid that it will be too much. I really wish I could get off this. I elevated my bed with a wedge.
In two weeks I have an appointment with my GI doctor. I hope that I do not have to get scoped again. I also have IBS and a lot of anxiety. I know
anxiety plays a huge part of all of this.
What do you all think of taking two nexiums together? there is so mucn info here and knowledge, I would really like your opinions.
thank you

I was put on the typical reflux diet (no citrus, caffeine, carbonated drinks, etc). I dont drink pop or coffee or anything anyways, but
it seems like EVERY sort of juice beverage has citric acid in it. I know they said no citrus (as in citric fruits, orange juice, etc), but is there enough
citric acid in drinks to affect acid reflux. It seems like water is the only thing you can drink, and granted I like water, I'd sometimes like something
with some flavor.
Any help???
my name is marco, ive been having issues for 5 monthss or so, i think more, of having a lot of saliva in my mouth, i used to be on
zoloft, so i always thought it was the medication, since i overly produced saliva, i spit a lot, because if i swallow it too frequently, air will build up in
my stomach, causing me to burp, so i developed a habit of constantly spitting. sometimes though, i dont get as much saliva in my mouth, i guess
when i dont concentrate on it or something. i used to be on zoloft and recently got off of it cuz of anxiety, and i hear anxiety can be a cause of too
much saliva, but im not really sure, i dont know if this is something serious or not, but its just been bugging, spitting isnt normal and getting that
feeling of air in my stomach constantly is bothering me, burping is the thing that relieves it momentarily, but it comes back a minute later, so i
have to burp again. right now im taking antibiotics, penycilin for a tooth infection and i gotta get a root canal for it. that and also prescribed pain
killers to sooth the pain, maybe the tooth infection is another reason for my too much saliva.
sometimes my stomach will hurt if i swallow too much, its either that..or the antibiotics.
its just really bugging me why i constantly have to spit and burp.
i dont think its anything too serious, but, i just want to know if theres been anyone whos had something similar.
Hello everyone...
So heres my story. Last October I became sick (bad cold/respiratory infection), and had an extremely sore throat. I developed a cough
afterwards, that I still have almost 8 months later. Its basically a feeling of constantly needing to clear my throat, either by coughing or "a-hem." I
can never cough up any mucus or anything though, and no nasal drainage. The need to clear my throat was it.
I went to an Otolaryngologist. He did the laryngoscopy through my nose, and came to the conclusion that I have acid reflux (also have quite large
or inflammed tonsils). He said that the infection is what likely caused the valve to weaken and the acid reflux to start. I am now on Prilosec for 2
weeks, maalox/mylanta nightly, and the typical reflux diet. Ive been on it for 2 weeks and have had no improvements. Has anyone else had a
similar situation? I'd really appreciate ANY help I can get. Thanks!!!!
Hey Guys,
Its me again. So hopefully the next time i write its because i have a praise report to tell you.So i've decided to have my throat dialated next week.I
had a lovely trip to the ER yesterday for chest pains & feeling as if i couldnt breath.Once again everything ck out ok & was told to up my does of
Xanax. So you could imagne how bad i felt.Your suppose to feel better not worse.NOw,i feel as if i'm truly loosing my mind.My husband said no
more trips to the hospital.Again, for me its hard to think this could all be in your mind & from acid reflux. So i stopped my lexapro thinking that
could be causing the feeling of something sitting on my chest & cant breath.ANyone had that before/any suggestions for something else. So,i
going next Tuesday for the procedure & i hope it works & i dont feel this awful knot/lump feeling in my throat. Please if anyone has had this done
give me some good feedback that it will work & not hurt afterwards!!! Thanks everyone for listening..always
