LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 7

I. OBJECTIVES

Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of:


contemporary Philippine literature as a means of
responding to the demands of the global village;
various extended text types; lexical and contextual
clues; appropriate and polite oral language, stance
and behaviour; and use of imperatives,
prepositions, verbs, and wh-questions.

Performance Standards: The learner transfers learning by: explaining


the need to be cooperative and responsible in
today’s global village; using appropriate strategies
to comprehend extended text types; using lexical
and contextual clues to understand unfamiliar
words , and expressions; using imperatives,
prepositions, and appropriate and polite oral
language, stance and behaviour in various
information-sharing formats.

Learning Competencies: At the end of the 60-minute lesson, 75


percent of the students are expected to:

Motivation

GAME KA NA BA?

Preparation/Mechanics:
- Teacher will make 5 briefcases (folder or any other learning
materials).
- Inside the briefcases are the vocabulary words listed below.
- Learners will choose the synonymous word of the provided
vocabulary word.
- Teacher will provide 3 or 4 options for variations.
- First group who will get 4 correct answers will be declared as
winners.
- Winners will get 10 points and 5 points for the non-winning teams.
- Teacher will ask 4 volunteers from each groups to hold the
briefcases.

Remind the learners to take note of the vocabulary words.

Discussion

Teacher introduces the lesson by giving words of wisdom and


encouragement to get out from the notion of being belittled and judged
as incompetent and ignorant about reality.
Learners are encouraged to work in a group in understanding the
story.

Teacher throws questions that would ensure learners


comprehension.

Questions:

1. In the beginning of the story, what color claimed to be the


brightest because of its striking color? Answer: RED
2. What color claimed to be the best of all because it exclaimed
to be the color of gaiety and of warmth? Answer: YELLOW
3. What color exclaimed to be the best because it represents
health and strength? Answer: ORANGE
4. What color claimed to be the best of all because it
symbolizes life? Answer: GREEN

Teacher highlights that cooperation and responsibility were greatly


emphasized in the story.

Group Activity

Constructing a Slogan

Reflecting on the parable’s message, construct three (3) slogans


that will best encourage the humanity to:

- Not lose hope in times of hardships and challenges


- Cooperate and collaborate in order to achieve better outcomes
- Accept inevitable changes and use them for self-improvement
