TITLE : PACKET TRACER - BUILD A PEER- TO - PEER


NETWORKING

network simulation tool.(P4, PLO5)

tracer software.
2. To build simple LAN using two/three hosts and a
switch

PROCEDURES

A. SET UP A NETWORK TOPOLOGY

Step 1: Set up the network topology

1. Add two PCs, Printer and a Cisco 2950T switch.

2. Using straight-through cables, connect PC0 to interface Fa0/1 on Switch0 , PC1 to


interface Fa0/2 on Switch0 and Printer0 to interface Fa0/3 on Switch0.

3. Configure PC0 using the Config tab in the PC0 configuration window, select Fast Ethernet:
1. IP Address: 192.168.10.10
2. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

4. Configure PC1 using the Config tab in the PC1 configuration window, select Fast Ethernet:
1. IP Address: 192.168.10.11
2. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

5. Configure Printer0 using the Config tab in the printer configuration window, select Fast
Ethernet:
1. IP Address: 192.168.10.12
2. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Step 2: Test connectivity from PC0 to PC1

1. Use the ping command to test connectivity.


1. Click PC0.
2. Choose the Desktop tab.
3. Choose Command Prompt.
4. Type ping 192.168.10.11and press enter

Step 3: Run a Simulation from PC0 to PC1

1. Switch to Simulation Mode by clicking the tab in the lower right hand corner.
2. Click the Simple PDU tool.
3. Click the PC0 icon as the source and PC1 icon as the destination.
4. Click the Auto Capture/Play button to run the simulation.
5. Describe the contents of the Event List window.
