Preventive healthcare
Preventive healthcare consists of measures taken for disease prevention.
Disease and disability are affected by environmental factors, genetic
predisposition, disease agents, and lifestyle choices. They are dynamic
processes which begin before individuals realize they are affected. Disease
prevention relies on anticipatory actions. Each year, millions of people die
of preventable deaths. Leading causes included cardiovascular disease,
chronic respiratory disease, diabetes, and certain infectious diseases.
Eating healthier and routinely exercising play a huge role in reducing
individuals' risks. Sexually transmitted infections are preventable with safe
sex practices. The term applies to the uss of condoms.

Pandemic vs. Epidemic: What's the difference?

An epidemicis an outbreak of a disease that spreads quickly and affects
many individuals at the same time. It can occur in a community,
geographical area or several countries.
A pandemic is a type of epidemic that relates to geographic spread and
describes a disease that affects an entire country or the whole world.

How a pandemic is different:

Affects a wider geographical area, often worldwide.
Infects a large number of people.
Often caused by a new virus or a new strain of virus that has not
circulated within for a long time
Humans have little immunity against the virus and it spreads quickly.
-Causes more deaths.
-Often creates social disruption and economic loss

The terms pandemic and epidemic are never used to indicate the severity
of the disease, only the degree it is spreading. Declaring a pandemic
allows national and global public health agencies to respond to the
situation at a higher degree. In addition, declaring it works to raise
awareness about the problem and increase measures to control it.
