MANUAL

Normally you only need to open the file “autorun” and follow its
instructions. However if you have some sudden problems with this
graphical menu, you can open every file manually. Here is the detailed
instruction.

The note: you will find some other instructions here also.

1. Install the programs from the folder “Programs”.


 “Video_player” program is intended for watching the video
lessons.
 “Pgn viewer” program is intended for opening the chess
database files in *.pgn format (you will find them in the
“Practical part” of the course).

The note: if you have any other programs for opening the video files in
*.swf format and chess database files in *.pgn format – you may use
them as well.

2. Study the chess course.


 Please, study the video lessons first

{from the folder “1) Video course”}.

 After that you should study the Practical part


{from the folder “2) Practical part (academy)”}.

The note: if you can’t open any text file – please, use its copy from the
folder “Text files for an older soft”.

You’ve got all the necessary instructions. Now you may study the
course. However if you have any sudden problems, you can find some
more instructions below.

If you can’t open the video lessons.


There are several alternative ways for opening the video files.

1. You can use your Internet Browser, e.g. Internet Explorer,


Mozilla Firefox, Opera etc. (internet connection is not
necessary)

NOTE: If your Internet browser doesn’t open the video files – you
should update your Internet browser. To make it, you need to install
the Flash player. You can install it for free from:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

 The detailed manual:


1) Make the right button mouse click on the file (for example, on the
file “Lesson 2.swf”) and choose an option “open with”. It will open
the list of programs, which you can use to open this file.
2) Choose your internet browser (for example: Internet Explorer,
Mozilla Firefox, Opera etc) from this list.

1) Open your Internet browser.
2) Choose the menu: file/open file. It will open the window with the
files on your computer. Then you need to choose one of the video

lessons from the folder “1) Video course” (if it shows no files –
you should first select the file type: “all files”).

2. You can use the “SWF opener” program.

1) Install the program SWF Opener (it specializes on this video


format). You can download it for free:
http://chess-teacher.com/materials/swfopener.exe
2) Then simply click the video lesson file (for example: “Lesson
2.swf”).

If you can’t open the game files of the Practical part.


Here is the detailed manual for opening the *.pgn files.

1) Install the program “pgn_viewer” from the folder “Programs”


2) Open this program (it calls “Compochess” and you can find it in
the Start menu).
3) Choose the menu File/Open and then choose any *.pgn file (for
example “Task 2.pgn”).

The note: You can simply print any chess game using this program. Just
click the printer icon.
