Last Tuesday, Lewis County asked 50% of our non-essential workforce to stay home to observe
social distancing and to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Today, the County is taking
further action to achieve this objective. In response to the Governor’s “New York State on
PAUSE” executive order, Lewis County is suspending public access to the following buildings:

Community Services
All behavioral health agencies continue to provide services to community members, in the event of
questions, residents are encouraged to contact the service providers. In the event of a crisis, crisis
services offered by TLS Behavioral Health and Wellness, can be accessed by phone during regular

The County Clerk’s office processing recordings (electronically, or by appointment, drop-off
only), and any ERPO. No New York State Court filings. No pistol permits, passports, or non-
essential transactions. Contact: 315-376-5333 and leave a message if no answer.
If you need to apply for SNAP or HEAP you can do so online at www.mybenefits.com. If you need
to apply for SNAP, HEAP and Temporary Assistance you can also go to
https://otda.ny.gov/programs/applications to print off an application. You may also call the DSS
office and we will mail you applications if you do not have internet access. You can submit the
application and required documentation by:

Drop Box- located at the main entrance to the office building, (please include your name
and your examiner’s name if you have one).
Please call the Lewis County DSS PRIOR to visiting at 315-376-5400. Face to face interviews have
been waived when applying or recertifying for benefits. Please provide us a phone number to
conduct the interview.

will be staffed and messages will be checked throughout the week. If you are calling about a
traffic ticket, please follow the instructions on the voicemail message. Do not leave a message

Public Health
Open standard hours 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Immunization clinics have been cancelled until further
notice. Immunizations are available by appointment only, please call 315-376-5453.

Sheriff’s Office
Public access is suspended at the Public Safety Building. Visitation is suspended at the Jail. Other
