they may be living witnesses to your divine love in the world.
We ask you this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Liturgy of the Word: Write the title of the scripture passage as it appears in the book, the
scripture reference (i.e. Jeremiah 31:31-32a). Briefly summarize the reading and explain
why you like each reading.
1. Old Testament Reading: refer to pages 10-26.
- Genesis 1:26-28, 31a
- Then God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and overall the
wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground.” God created man in his
image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God
blessed them, saying: “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have
dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that
move on the earth.” God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very
good. The word of the Lord.
Explanation: Human beings were created in the image of God. Responsibilities were given
to us by God, and we have the power to accomplish them. In every ups and downs,
remember that God, creator of all that is good, is always there to stand with us.
2. Responsorial Psalm: refer to table of contents “Together for life” booklet Type
Psalm.
Responsorial Psalms
- Psalm 33:12 and 18, 20-21, 22
- The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. The earth is full of the goodness of the
Lord. Blessed the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen for his
own inheritance. But see, the eyes of the Lord are upon those who fear him, upon
those who hope for his kindness. The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield, For in him our hearts
rejoice; in His holy Name, we trust. The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in you. The earth is
full of the goodness of the Lord.
Explanation: God can lead all of us to the best life. Putting our trust and faith to Him can
save all of us. He is truly our guide, help, and shield.
3. New Testament Reading: refer to table of contents “Together for life”. booklet
New Testament Reading
- Romans 15:1b-3a, 5-7, 13
- A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Romans. Brothers and sisters: We ought to put
up with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves; let each of us please
our neighbor for the good, for building up. For Christ did not please himself. May the
God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one
another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord, you may with one voice
glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome one another, then, as
Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God. May the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy
Spirit. The word of the Lord.
Explanation: This reading explains the peace and harmony in marriage. Welcoming each
other with all the perfections and imperfections in your life.
4. Alleluia Verse and Verse before the Gospel: refer to “Together for life”. booklet.
Type verses.
- 1 John 4: 7b “God is Love. If God loves us, we must also love one another.”
Explanation: The center of marriage is God. As the couple unites because they love
each other they also unite themselves in loving God. God loves us so we must love
our partner too.
- 1 John 3: 12 “If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is brought to
perfection in us.”
Explanation: If we keep true in loving each other especially as a couple, God will
always be there to guide us in our problems and in life. There is no perfect couple
or marriage but with God, we can reach as far.
5. Gospel: refer to “Together for life”. booklet.
- Mark 10: 6-9
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark. “But at the beginning of creation,
God ‘made them male and female. For this reason, a man will leave his father and
mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh. So they are no
longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one
separate.”
Explanation: The meaning of this passage is that man is destined to leave his father
and mother to create a new family. Marriage means that the couple are not united
into one and they shall never separate because God joined them together.
Rite of Marriage:
1. Exchange of Consent or Wedding Vows: refer to “Together for life”. booklet. Include
how you will recite vows and explain why you chose that particular method.
H2 I, N., take you, N., for my lawful wife (husband), to have and to hold, from
this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in
health, until death do us part.
Explanation:
The group chose to memorize the vows to show the full consent to the marriage. In this
way, if one of the parties forget their line, they can improvise and add what they want to
say to their spouse. Moreover, in this way, the couple can also edit their vows and speak
what their heart wants to say.

2. Blessing of the Rings: “Together for life”. booklet. Type out blessing.
I2
Lord, bless these rings which we bless + in your name

Liturgy of the Eucharist:

1. Title of Offertory song: Power of Your Love
2. Prayer over the Offerings:
K1 Receive, we pray, O Lord,
that offering made on the occasion
of this sealing of the sacred bond of Marriage,
and, just as your goodness is its origin,

3.Preface:
1.3 Matrimony as a Sign of Divine Love
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with your spirit.
V. Lift up your hearts.
R. We lift them up to the Lord.
V. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
R. It is right and just.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
For you willed that the human race,
created by the gift of your goodness,
should be raised to such high dignity
that in the union of a husband and wife
you might bestow a true image of your love.
For those you created out of charity
you call to the law of charity without ceasing
and grant them a share in your eternal charity.
And so, the Sacrament of holy Matrimony,
as the abiding sign of your own love,
consecrates the love of man and woman,
through Christ our Lord.
Through him, with the Angels and all the Saints,
we sing the hymn of your praise,
as without end we acclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts...
4. Nuptial Blessing:
M3. Let us humbly invoke by our prayers, dear brothers and sisters,
God’s blessing upon this bride and groom,
that in his kindness he may favor with his help
those on whom he has bestowed the Sacrament of Matrimony.
All pray in silence for a while.
Then the Priest, with hands extended over the bride
and bridegroom, continues:
Holy Father, maker of the whole world,
who created man and woman in your own image
we humbly beseech you for these your servants,
who are joined today in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
May your abundant blessing, Lord,
come down upon this bride, Marielle,
and upon Gene Oliver, her companion for life
and may the power of your Holy Spirit
set their hearts aflame from on high.
so that, living out together the gift of Matrimony,
they may (adorn their family with children and)
enrich the Church
In happiness may they praise you, O Lord,
in sorrow may they seek you out;
may they have the joy of your presence
to assist them in their toil,
and know that you are near
to comfort them in their need;
let them pray to you in the holy assembly
and bear witness to you in the world,
and after a happy old age,
together with the circle of friends that surrounds them,
may they come to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
5. Title of Communion Song: Iesu, Panis Vitae
6. Prayer after Communion:
N3. Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that the power of the Sacrament we have received
may find growth in these your servants
and that the effects of the sacrifice we have offered
may be felt by us all.
Through Christ our Lord.

Concluding Rite:
1. O1
May God the eternal Father
keep you one heart in love for one another,
that the peace of Christ may dwell in you
and abide always in your home.
R. Amen

May you be blessed in your children,

have solace in your friends
and enjoy true peace with everyone.
R. Amen

May you be witnesses to the world to God’s charity,

so that the afflicted and needy who have known your kindness
may one day receive you thankfully
into the eternal dwelling of God.
R. Amen

And may the almighty God bless all of you, who are gathered here,
the Father, the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen

GROUP’S FINAL REFLECTION:

Marriage, being the ceremony that binds a couple together both spiritually and
physically, is a very big thing and can be considered as the most important event in a
couple’s life. No day surpasses the day of a couple’s marriage in importance and
relevance and the ceremony of marriage must also be just as great. As a group, we have
experienced just how stressful planning a marriage can be and how hard it is to make a
perfect one. The cost of the ceremony itself is very steep and a couple must steel
themselves and must be sure that it would be worth it. The level of maturity a couple
needs to plan one is something that we are very far from since bearing the responsibility of
setting up the ceremony and its significance throughout the rest of our lives is simply too
much for us right now. We must also be ready to spiritually tie ourselves with another
person for the rest of our lives before committing to planning a marriage and that is
something, we ready ourselves for years to come. After all these hardships and stress, we
also realize why the sacrament of marriage and the ceremony itself is so beautiful. The
fact that we do so much for love is in itself a very beautiful thing. Not only that, we also do
the ceremony in the presence of God and as we make our weddings more grandeur, we
simply present just how much a couple loves each other and how much they want to be
together. The ceremony itself does not need to be extravagant, what matters is the work
put into it as this represents the commitment a couple has to one another. It represents the
spiritual bond that a couple will form, and it shows their willingness to be together forever
with God as their witness and until death do them part.
