9. Course Learning Objectives:


 To orient students in communication skills.
 To train students making effective presentations and discussion on various
topics.
 To develop active listening skills among students.
 To encourage to read important documents by using the sub-skills of reading.
 To train them to write project reports with confidence.

10. Course pre-requisites:


The students should have completed a course on English at their Undergraduate level.

13. Assessment Scheme:
Internal + External = 75 + 25 (100 marks)

i) Periodical tests
Short class tests will be given to check the comprehension of the students. A test on
writing newspaper reports will be conducted for 15 marks. Similarly students will be assessed
in reading and listening skills in the Language lab for 15 marks each.

ii) Term paper / Assignment


An assignment on writing job application letters will be given for 15 marks.

iii) Seminar
Students will be asked to make an oral presentation and submit the hard copy of it.

Students will prepare a presentation and also prepare their assignments.

Students will be asked to prepare seminars on general topics given and other
materials related to the course.

ix) Content beyond syllabus


General topics for presentations, debates and group discussions will be given.
Samples of Actuarial reports will be given for analysis and discussion.
