Learning a language means learning vocabulary. This is


not always easy, but we will help you!

Below you will find the transcripts of the dialogues you heard,
with the English translation. Read the text and the translation.

Many people participate in this course, but not everyone has


the same learning goals or time available. If you only want to
get acquainted with a few Dutch words, learning the phrases
will be enough for you.

However, if you want to really learn Dutch, we advise you to


learn the vocabulary and the phrases that we have published
on Quizlet.

Memorizing by Quizlet
Quizlet is a worldwide educational service, with tools enabling
anyone to study whatever they want. Quizlet’s free study tools
and apps are used by over a million students and teachers
around the world every day.

In this course we will use Quizlet for vocabulary learning. There


are three sets of words and phrases on Quizlet – one for each
week of the course. Furthermore, each grammar section has a
direct link to Quizlet, allowing you to practise the various
grammar points.

You can register on Quizlet. This will allow you to track your
own learning progress and scores. We, as teachers, are able to
view the overall progress of the class and see how you studied,
and use this data to improve our Introduction to Dutch course.

Vocabulary

In this part of Quizlet, you will find all the words of the first
week from the dialogues. You can memorize them by using
flashcards, playing different types of games and testing
yourself.

Phrases

In this set we selected the most important phrases from the


dialogues. Memorizing them will give you a basic knowledge of
Dutch.
