Introduction—read and highlight any important info

There are many career opportunities related to the biomedical sciences,
and these career options are increasing daily. Biomedical science careers
involve people working in many different settings, including research and
clinical laboratories, medical centers, industries, doctor’s offices, and
universities. Throughout your biomedical sciences coursework, you will
explore a variety of career areas.

In this activity you will examine key information gathered from interviews
of friends, family members, and people of interest. You will organize all of
your findings related to Anna’s case, as well as explore some of the
biomedical science professionals involved so far in the investigation of
Anna Garcia’s death.
Persons of Interest
1. Read through the information gathered for each person of interest on the
1.3 Persons of Interest. As you read, highlight anything you deem as
important and type out any motives.
2. Next, complete Activity 1.3 on the Unit 1 Investigative Notes.
Biomedical Careers
3. Access the Citation Protocol document. You will use this as your guide
whenever documenting a source in PBS. This is in APA and not MLA
format!
4. Note that throughout the process of investigating the case of Anna Garcia,
you have been introduced to a variety of biomedical science professionals
involved in Anna’s case. These professionals include:
o Police, Fire, and Ambulance Dispatchers
o EMTs and Paramedics
i. You must differentiate between EMT-basic, EMT-
Intermediate, and Paramedic in skills (what they are able
to do), and how to become one
o Forensic Science Technician

5. You will be assigned one of these careers to research and create an
advertisement for the job.
Before starting, answer the questions below about your assigned profession.
Use the Bureau of Labor Statistics https://www.bls.gov/home.htm as your
website for information. Put your answers in your own words and in a
different font color. In addition, properly cite your source in APA format below
the questions.

Instructions:

There is a decline in the number of Police/Fire/Ambulance dispatchers, EMTs

and Paramedics, and Forensic Science Technicians in your area. You have
just been hired by the county to create an advertisement enticing people to
enter one of these fields of study. I need you to create a mini informational,
yet enticing, infographic advertisement using some type of web-based
infographic assistance website (may sure you can download your creations
for free) or Word or Google about one of these professions (the one assigned
to you). I really prefer that you keep it concise, use LOTS of pictures, and
keep it to ONE page. It should be almost like a poster. But first, answer the
questions below.

What is the name of career?

What are the daily responsibilities of the job?
What are the skills needed?
What is the salary?
What are the schooling requirements?
Are there any required tests to pass? If so, what?

Work Cited:

6. Now, design an infographic on the information above. An infographic is

basically an electric poster. Imagine your infographic utilized on the wall
of some facility. Utilize your inner graphic designer to create this
infographic. Make sure the graphic addresses all the information in your
research. Your final product will need to be informative, yet simple to
follow. The questions were provided as a guide to the type of information
that you should include, but please do not put the information on the
infographic in question/answer format, but final organization of
information is up to you.
7. Be sure to properly cite all the sources of the information you used to
develop your product under the questions above. You do not need to put
your work cited on the infographic.

Conclusion Questions—answer in a different font color
1. Look through the other two professions that you did not research. You can
open multiple documents. Out of these three professions, explain which
career would most suit you. You have to pick one. In your answer, explain
why you chose this career over the other two.
2. Describe how each of the three biomedical science professionals
introduced in this activity would assist with Anna’s case.
