The upgraded gateways send an upgraded code over canbus what puts the radio asleep, the older gateways are still sending a basic version while an extended canbus string is needed, Since the newer generation radio's are requesting the extended string and not recognize the basic string the radio doesn't sleep and stays awake till the battery is drained.
