ADF Differences
This ADF uses a Constant Velocity Transport (CVT) which enables single
pass duplex color scanning only. During document scanning, the IIT
Lamp Carriage is fixed at the scan position and scans side-one. At the
same time, the CIS (Contact Image Sensor), located inside the ADF,
scans side-two.
Unlike previous platform DADFs, this ADF cannot invert documents.

ADF Differences
ADF Hardware Changes
The following components have been removed from the ADF to create
the single-pass configuration:
• Invert Roll
• Invert Sensor
• # 2 Invert Sensor
• # 2 Exit Sensor
• Invert Baffle
• Invert Roll/Nip Release Solenoid
• Exit Gate

ADF Differences
Image Processing Optimization Color (IPOC) Software
One-Pass Duplex color scanning has been available in previous family
products. However, there have been side-2 image quality limitations
because of the difference in the two devices used in scanning side-1
(CCD Sensor in the IIT) and side-2 (CIS Sensor).
The gamut difference between the devices meant that side 2 looked
different than side 1. If the customer needed the same look for both sides,
the only option was to use the CCD sensor for both sides, which meant
inverting the document in the ADF. This created productivity issues
because the process was slowed considerably.
With the introduction of this product, a new software package, called
IPOC, optimizes both side 1 and side 2 images so that they appear equal
to the eye.

50 January 23, 2012 Xerox Internal Use Only

ADF Differences
ADJ 5.4 IIT Calibration Changes
Now that the ADF is single-pass duplex operation only, ADJ 5.4 IIT
Calibration has been updated and its importance has been amplified.
The adjustment is divided into six parts:
White Reference Adjustment - Calculates and sets the White Reference
Correction Coefficient (same as 4127).
CCD Calibration - Corrects the IIT sensitivity dispersion (same as 4127).
Optical Axis Correction - Obtains and adjusts the light axis correction data when
replacing the lens unit (same as 4127)
White Reference Adjustment - Side 2 - Calculates and sets the White
Reference Correction Coefficient for Side 2 scanning (new).
CCD Calibration - Side 2 - Corrects the IIT sensitivity dispersion for Side 2
scanning (new).
Side 2 Shading Correction - Obtains the shading data of CIS White Reference
Board (Jig) for 2 Sided mode to check for contamination (same as 4127).
