CBM Assignment, Part 2

Student goal (established in CBM Part 1): By 1/9/2020, Kodi will, when given a 3rd
grade level oral reading fluency assessment, read at least 70 correct words per minute
with at least 95% accuracy on 3 progress monitoring assessments.

SUMMARY OF PROGRESS TO DATE: Plan Evaluation


Correct Words: Kodi has shown slight progress in his number of correct words read
per minute. I believe that reminding him to slow down has increased his number of
words read. According to his slope, if Kodi continues to make growth, he should
increase by 51.5361 words.

Error Words: At the start of this assignment, Kodi was reading very quickly to try and
be a speedy reader. This caused him to make a lot of mistakes, so his errors started
very high. Each time we sit down to progress monitor him I remind him to slow down
and try to work on reading each word. He has had less errors most of the time and is
also in need of constant reminders to slow down his reading.

Observations: When Kodi is being progress monitored with his group of peers he tries
to rush through reading. I usually bring him alone and remind him that he needs to do
his best. He will usually do his very best if we follow this protocol.

Comparison to Goal: Kodi is slowly exceeding his goal for the past 2 progress
monitoring, and if he can achieve 1 more above 70 words then he will be able to move
on to the next level. I believe that the increased end goal line for Kodi will be reading
100 words correct in a minute with 97% accuracy.

NEXT STEPS
Summary of Decision Making: Kodi has been making steady progress towards his
goal. He has been above his aim line 4 out of the 7 progress monitors and has slowly
increased the words he reads correctly in a minute.

Summarize Change or No Change: If Kodi can maintain his 70 words correct in a


minute on 1 more progress monitoring assessment then he will be bumped to try and
achieve 100 words correct in a minute.

Rationale for Change or No Change: Based on Kodi’s data I believe that a change will
need to be made. He is making slow and steady growth and he is ready to be pushed to
the next level of reading. When he knows what goal, he is working towards then he is
more likely to work hard to obtain that goal.
