In a little town on the island of Crete in Greece there lived a family of four.

The father's name was

Azarias and his wife's name was Calliope. They had two children a daughter named Daphne and a son

named Cleon. Daphne was thirteen years old and Cleon was ten years old. The family's last name was

Kapetanos the name wasn't so popular in Greece. Daphne and Cleon went to school every morning.

The school was very small and it was built beside the ocean on the beach close to Azarias and Calliope's

home. It was almost summer break, Daphne and Cleon could barely wait because their parents planned

a trip to Athens to visit their grandparents. That morning, the sun didn't rise as early as it usually did.

''Let's go everybody, come on, you two need to go to school.'' said Mrs. Kapetanos pointing at the

school house. It was darker than usual, so the kids weren't so sure about waking up but their

mother rushed them out of bed. Daphne took a glance at the clock in the kitchen and saw that indeed it

was time to go to school. Today was the last day of school, and it seemed to go by very slowly. When

they got home they were so relieved that the day was finally over and summer break had begun. The

next day they packed their luggage for the trip. ''Do you know where my vest is? '' called Mr. Kapetanos

''Ah, found it.'' he called out again. Once they were all ready, they went outside to the beach and

waited for their boat. Squinting they saw a speck on the horizon, their boat.

Meanwhile, in a very different dimension of Greek gods, there was war going on because of Hades. No

one knew why or how in the world Hades, god of the dead, would start a war. His warriors being dead

would listen to every single command he gave them. Zeus, along with the other gods, was confused why

his elder brother would want to battle against all of the Olympian gods. What Zeus did not know was

that all the monsters including Cyclops, were on Hades side. Hades called a secret surprise war on the

gods. But Zeus was also planning a surprise war on the same day.

In the mean time, the Kapetanos got off the boat just when an earthquake started. They all ran to the

nearest shelter as fast as they could. It was one of those earthquakes that lasts a while and destroys a

large amount of land. Once it ended, they came out and saw that not as much was ruined as they

thought. Some houses were standing, some were completely demolished, and some were barely
standing, but to their disappointment and surprise the Acropolis was overall in ruins. They ran over to

investigate. The statue of Athena was missing !!! ''Let's go kid!'' said Mr. Kapetanos. ''I'm staying!''

declared Cleon. 'Me too, I want to investigate a little while longer.'' said Daphne. Mrs. Kapetanos sighed

and said ''Well it would be good for someone to investigate a little more. Yes, you two may stay.'' said

Mr. Kapetanos . ''Thank you'' said Daphne. When their parents were gone they started to explore. ''I call

looking around the exact spot the statue was,'' called Daphne. ''Fine, I'll search somewhere else,'' sighed

Cleon. Cleon went over to the front steps of the Acropolis. Like his sister, he was very good at finding

clues and solving mysteries. ''I don't see any foot prints here sis.'' said Cleon. ''Keep looking ''

encouraged his sister. After a while of looking and searching Daphne gasped ''I found something .''

''What did you find?'' asked Cleon. ''I think it's a letter with a thunder bolt stamp.'' said Daphne

completely surprised at what she found.

In the meantime, in the Greek god dimension, if Hades was going into war against all the terrifyingly

strong Greek gods he thought that by taking the statue of Athena he could control her and he would win

the war . Zeus, the thunder god was on Olympus with all the gods gathered around him. ''I have an

announcement: Hades has stolen the statue of Athena from the humans in Athens.'' explained Zeus. A

loud murmur went on then Demeter goddess of harvest asked: ''why would he steal the statue?''. ''I'm

not quite sure.'' sighed Zeus . Another loud murmur broke out . ''Listen everyone, I will send for help.''

He wrote a letter and then stamped it with a thunder bolt shaped stamp, [his sign] and gave it to a

phoenix to drop down on earth in the statues place.

''Open the letter, come on Daphne open it!'' urged Cleon. ''Ok, Ok, be patient please,'' said Daphne. As

soon as she opened it, she and her brother gasped a blue light flickered inside the envelope. Daphne

unfolded the letter but it was blank .'' What the ...'' gasped Cleon. ''Is that it? No, it can't be it?'' gasped

Daphne with disbelieve ''It can't be it?'' repeated Daphne trying to convince herself . The blue light

started to fade, then the letter started to talk. Daphne quickly dropped it in shock and screamed. It's

voice was deep and calm. ''This is so weird,'' whispered Daphne ''Shh listen'' Cleon shushed his sister

''Children, this may seem very unusual but the king of Greek gods, the mighty Zeus, needs your help .
My amazingly written letter will provide you a safe passage to my dimension. You have got the blood of

mighty heroes, that is why we have picked you two to come to our world.'' explained Zeus. Daphne

and Cleon glanced at each other Could this be, could this actually be happening? As soon as the letter

stopped talking, a white light blasted out of the envelope. The envelope started to suck them in like a

vacuum until all that was left was a blank harmless letter and envelope in the middle of the Acropolis.

'' Urgh,'' groaned Daphne ''ow,'' Cleon yelled as they slammed on the ground, in a forest. ''Daphne,

help,'' yelled Cleon again. Daphne looked up and saw that Cleon was trapped in a cage and was getting

dragged by a cloaked figure on foot.'' I'm coming,'' responded Daphne. She got up and started to run

but she was soar and tired so she couldn't keep up and started to slow down then she tripped over a

rock and fell onto the hard ground. When Daphne opened her eyes and saw that she was no longer on

the forest floor but in a room. There were maps, spears, helmets, and an owl perched on a window sill.

She was lying in a very soft bed. Then she heard footsteps outside the door. ''You have to help lead our

warriors into battle,'' said the deep and calm voice she heard before. ''I think it not wise to go

tomorrow night , I suggest we stay and guard.'' argued a stubborn woman's voice. ''I will let you think

about it.'' said the deep and calm voice of a man. Then, Daphne heard the man leaving and the

woman came inside the room that Daphne was in. ''Oh you're awake.'' At once Daphne realised that

she was face to face with her favourite goddess Palace Athena and she had just asked her something .

''Yeah,'' replied Daphne not so sure about what would happen next. Would pigs actually grow wings and

fly thought Daphne. She snapped out of it and asked ''Who was the man you just talked to?''. ''Zeus,''

replied Athena casually. ''What happened?'' asked Daphne. ''Well, Zeus and I had a discussion,'' said

Athena sitting down on the bed next to Daphne. ''No, I mean me, how did I get here?'' asked Daphne.

''Oh sorry, I was walking through the forest thinking about why Hades would steal the statue of me

when I heard ("Daphne help"), I ran to where I heard the voice and I saw you asleep and in the distance I

saw a figure of a man dragging a boy. I tried, believe me I tried, but I was afraid of hurting the boy too.

Then the next thing I knew, they were both gone, so I picked you up and carried you here, explained
Athena. ''That boy you saw, he is my brother, and I am Daphne, said Daphne. ''Do you think he will be

okay?'' asked Daphne. ''He will be perfectly fine as long as we know where he is, that's why I will leave in

search of your brother. '' said Athena. ''Can I come with you?'' asked Daphne. ''Sure why not? We will

start our search tomorrow morning , now let's get some sleep.'' replied Athena. The next morning they

set out in the woods and they heard some rustling , suddenly a centaur came out of the bushes. ''Have

you seen a boy in the forest lately?'' asked Athena. ''Well, there is one wondering about, right passed

these bushes." replied the kind Centaur. "Thank you'' said Athena and Daphne quickly darted through

the bushes with Athena behind her, she looked around and saw Cleon walking. "Cleon!'' yelled Daphne.

Cleon turned around and said: "I need to tell you something.'' Daphne nudged Cleon. ''Hello'' he said

getting the hint. ''Is that Athena? No way, seriously? Is that really her?'' whispered Cleon. ''Yes, that is

Athena.'' whispered Daphne back. ''What did you want to tell us?'' she asked in a louder voice. ''Well I

can't tell you everything but I will tell some of it. I am in Hades army and I can't escape and you have to

guard Olympus.'' he explained quickly. ''I knew it!'' exclaimed Athena. Then they heard a terrible cry

''Got to go!'' said Cleon. ''Go where?'' asked Daphne but he already left. ''Come on, we have to tell the

others what he told us.'' said Athena. Daphne had no idea what was going on. As if reading her mind

Athena explained how there was war and they think that Hades started it. Once Athena stopped talking

Daphne understood everything. By the time Daphne understood they were at Athena's room ''Wait

here!'' said Athena. ''OK'' replied Daphne. Athena walked to the hall that all the gods were in and went

to stand in front of them. ''We should stay and guard. Let's not go out to fight at sundown!'' said Athena

loudly and clearly. ''She's right, let's go now! ''said Ares god of war. ''No, I think we should leave at

sundown'' said Hephaestus. ''At sundown!'' everybody cheered. While Athena was trying to convince

the gods, Daphne was sitting on Athena's bed. She waited for a while and finally Athena came back

from the meeting. ''How did it go? Did you convince anybody?" asked Daphne. ''No'' responded

Athena while walking towards the window. ''Where are you going?'' asked Daphne. ''I'm going to keep

an eye on the enemy.'' explained Athena. ''OK, so which way will we be heading?'' asked Daphne.
''There is no we, I will go alone. I need you to make sure Ares doesn't lead the gods into something

stupid.'' Athena told Daphne. It's so obvious Athena's jealous, thought Daphne. Quickly Athena

disappeared out of the window. Once it was sundown she arrived in the forest close to the entrance

that led to the underworld she climbed up a tree so she would be hidden yet she could see very well.

Suddenly she heard a cry that she recognised it. It was the same cry she heard when Cleon left. She

heard stomps and footsteps coming her way. She looked and saw Hades leading his army behind him.

The dead were behind them. There were the Cyclops and then at the end of the line she saw Cleon.

''Psst'' whispered Athena. He didn't hear her. Then she dropped a twig that landed right on his head.

''Ow!'' exclaimed Cleon. He looked up quickly and saw Athena in the tree. Everyone looked at him.

''Keep on marching,'' he said. Then he scribbled something on a bottle and threw it to Athena. Once

they were out of sight, she read what Cleon wrote on the bottle: ''I'm suspicious about this liquid.''

Then she took out a magnifying glass and saw that very lightly and very small there were two words:

"poison slowly" on the bottle. Suddenly it hit her, Hades must've drank the poison and that's why war

started and it wasn't Hades fault. But Hades and his army was heading straight to Olympus and the

Olympian gods were coming here where they would see that nothing was there. It was sundown and

Athena heard Ares's cry. He was on horseback and when he passed by the tree, Athena jumped in to the

saddle behind him. He started to yell thinking she was one of the monsters. ''Calm down! We have

nothing to do here. I will explain everything to anyone that will come with me.'' explained Athena to all

the gods. Then, she said hurriedly: "the rest of you hide until Zeus says you can come out.'' She jumped

on the nearest horse and started to canter off. When Zeus and Daphne caught up they were both on

horseback. Athena started to explain all about the bottle and the war. They got to Olympus quickly and

saw Hades facing them. The cyclops took one look at Zeus and ran off. While Zeus and Hades fought for

three days, Daphne, Athena, and Cleon came up with an antidote. When they finished making the

antidote, they dipped an arrow in it and handed it to Zeus. ''I know you would much rather hurl a

lightning bolt at him but you have to use this, '' said Athena handing over the arrow. Zeus wasn't going
to waste the arrow, he waited until Hades wasn't paying as much attention and he took his shot. It hit

Hades in the chest. There was an awkward silence and then Hades spoke: ''Why am I here in the sun? I

have to go!'' Zeus was relieved that his brother was acting normal. Zeus collected all the gods from their

hiding spots.

Everybody was on Olympus to thank Athena, Daphne, and Cleon. Everybody was happy, even Hades

who was still partly oblivious. Daphne walked over to where Cleon was standing and said ''You have

some explaining to do!''. ''I was desperately yelling for help, trapped in a cage!'' said Cleon dramatically

''Maybe you can tell me a little less dramatically.'' pointed out Daphne. ''OK'' sighed Cleon. Then he

continued his story ''So I was yelling for help, but I was so tired that I fell asleep on the ride to Hades.

Once I awoke I was in front of Hades. He was threatening that if I didn't join his army I would die and so

I did. I couldn't tell you everything he was up to.''. ''But how did you know the gods were in war?''

asked Daphne. ''Well after you hear a god plotting to kill the other gods you kindda get the picture.''

he responded. ''How about the poisonous bottle, the one that Athena talked about?'' asked Daphne.

''I'm getting there, so this one time, Hades started to be very nice like when he offered his thrown, he

drank what was in the bottle and suddenly he was very mean so I got very suspicious. Then he did his

war cry and we were off to war. I saw Athena in the tree and threw the bottle to her and you know the

rest.'' ''Wow!'' exclaimed Daphne "what about you?" asked Cleon. ''Oh me, I'll tell you another time.''

said Daphne. All the gods cheered but then Ares started to argue that he should be thanked also

because he led them. Zeus led the brother and sister to the edge of the mountain. ''Does time go faster

here?" asked Cleon. ''Yes'' answered Zeus. Then he opened an envelope that Daphne and Cleon jumped

into. This ride coming back was much smoother than the one going to the Greek gods. They appeared in

front of the letter, in Athens back at the Acropolis then the letter disappeared and their parents came

walking towards them. ''What have you found?'' asked Mrs. Kapetanos. ''Nothing,'' responded Cleon.

''Let us go then!'' said Mr. Kapetanos. They all walked together hand in hand. ''Nothing,'' muttered

Daphne looking into the sunset .
