3.Discuss ways that scope creep occurred on projects with which you have been associated.

Was the project manager able to reverse scope creep? Is it possible to reverse scope
creep? Defend either your yes or no answer.

Scope Creep occurs by any changes in the project that was not in the plan on projects such as
adding additions, market changes, or related with sources on project. These changes could
extend the given timeline and required resources for completing the project. Additions to a
project’s scope could also lead to quality risk because of the time constraint, it might overlook
tests and even the most vital features. However, with early diagnosis and precaution by the
Project manager, the scope creep can be prevented or at least reduced. The project manager is
the one who is responsible from figuring out how these changes can be accommodated.

Some precautions to prevent scope creep from occurring can be taken at the beginning of the
project precaution. There are some main activities below which can be taken by the project
manager due to avoid scope creep.

• From the beginning of project, ensure that defining boundaries of project clearly
because when team is unclear on what the scope of the project, it might cause
confusion what is necessary and what is unnecessary. Sometimes lack of clarity on
scope could cause the misunderstood by some team member. This person may want to
add new feature which is not needed by client. Hence prioritization features is
essential to address the goal. Moreover, the project scope should be update according
to the changing conditions later in the project.
• Most change requests arise when dealing with complex requirements. In these case,
identifying all requirements and deliverables has a crucial importance while scope is
being set. However, separating requirements into different layers is more useful to
tackle each layer separately and make change management easier. In these case,
organization should be restructured in order to get better control of resources. There
could be organized middle and lower lever managers who directly control the
resources and who have first insight that organizational functions.
• To start monitoring the projects is help to prevent scope creep. If you’re tracking
everything on process, it will also become easier to manage the project plan. This can
be provided by some control tools and data transfer of real time.
• Poor communication also damage the process. Therefore, The Project manager should
bring the team members together for providing suitable work environment. If there is
any disagreement or lack of information transfer, the project manager has to solve this
issue between the team members.

To considering these activities, will help to reversing scope creep on project and it will helps
to make further progress. To achieve quality on your product, you should keep in consider the
causes the scope creep to reverse them for your benefit.
