Dear Admissions Committee:

This letter is to support Melissa Arencibia and her goal of being admitted to the Mobile Outreach Clinic at the
University of Florida. I feel well qualified to recommend Melissa Arencibia for your program, as she has
excelled in several of my courses in the Department of Family, Youth and Community Sciences (FYCS).

I first met Melissa Spring of 2017 when she enrolled in my Principles of Family, Youth and Community Sciences
course. Her dedication and motivation throughout the course were undeniable, as she excelled in class
assignments, requirements, and discussions. Not only was she an active participator but was able to establish
relationships with her peers due to her positive and welcoming attitude. As an excellent collaborator, she has
completed superb projects with her peers. Currently having Melissa as a student in my Foundations of Youth
Development course further highlights her dedicated character. She continuous to practice the same stellar
habits which made her succeed in my introductory course.

Despite her rigorous academic schedule, Melissa finds the time to serve the Gainesville community. She
spends her Saturday mornings serving the city’s homeless population through the Heart for the Homeless
organization. During this time, she performs blood pressure screenings, body mass index calculations, informs
them about heart health, and makes donations. During the week, she volunteers with the University of
Florida’s Student Interdisciplinary Health Program (SHIP) where she teaches elementary and middle school
children numerous health topics. Additionally, Melissa is certified as a medical administrative assistant and
electrocardiograph technician. Prior clinical experience at other medical facilities have made her
knowledgeable on the proper clinical techniques. Melissa has shadowed a sleep medicine pediatrician, where
developed connections with patients and witnessed integral medical diagnoses.

It has been exceptionally apparent throughout her undergraduate career, that Melissa holds herself to a
higher standard than your average undergraduate student. I have witnessed Melissa use critical thinking skills
and communicate well with others. She is professional and engaging in each of our exchanges. As a well-
balanced scholar, Melissa has proven that she is cognitively capable of handling a program of this magnitude. I
hope it is evident that Melissa is a wonderful human with compassion, grace, and dedication to serve others. I
strongly believe she will make an excellent care coordinator through the Mobile Outreach Clinic.

Please give Melissa Arencibia’s application at the University of Florida every consideration. If you should need
any additional information, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Kate H. Fletcher, M.S.
