A Week in Manila
What a joy to get to work with Cris
and Dothy, program managers of the
Manila site for GlobalFingerprints. I was
there for a week to train the care work-
ers on how to use a Tablet to monitor
and evaluate the children who are spon-
sored. It will be a great tool to help us
see who needs help and even spot
trends to help the whole community.

The rest of my time I got to see first
hand how God is using Cris and Dothy
for His glory. From having Bible studies
with individuals or groups to teaching
and encouraging the care workers to
interact with the children in their
groups, showing the children how to
participate in clean-up, and exercising
using medicine balls. (The children’s
core strength is really improving, and
they eat more after their workout!)
Since I left a lot has been going on.
Thanks to a generous friend Cris and
Dothy got to visit their daughter in Thai-
land who is doing student teaching in an
outreach there. The care workers are
being challenged to be open about heir
faith. A classmate of Fatima has threat-
ened to kill her for being a Christian.
The care workers have had some great
discussions about what to do. Fatima is

for 30 plus years. Vance re-
tired a couple of years ago,
and Carol transitioned to
work with EFCA
GlobalFingerprints in the
Philippines.
encouraging them to share and be open
about their faith. As we do pray for their
safety, let us also pray for their boldness
and that they would trust the Holy Spirit
instead of fear the unknown. (Acts 4:29,
2 Cor. 3:12)
A five minute walk from the Center is
the new office and meeting room! The
care workers putting it to good use. The
new reading program is off to a good
start. Bible stories are used as the main
teaching tool! Tuberculosis is a big prob-
lem in the poor areas of Manila. Because
3 families have confirmed cases, the care
workers and Inday, the cook, all need to
get chest x-rays. Please pray the children
in these families will take the medicine
faithfully even if it doesn’t taste good!
The spread of TB has to stop.
