How does the transportation project or system of a country affect its urban planning or

architecture? According to the article, India has many Infrastructural projects (commercial,

residential, industrial, recreational) located to its different regions. These requires an efficient

transportation system to support its projects. But just like any country, it faces transportation

problem like traffic, the density of vehicles, etc. So, its government proposed or implemented

varied transportation projects to solve its problems each city. For example, to connect one city to

another, India government suggests constructing a new road. The impact of the architecture in

this case is minimal as there are not many structures existing on the route of the proposed roads,

but along its road, new buildings (housing, industrial, and commercial) are built. Another

example, for its traffic problem, the government suggest widening of existing road for less traffic

inflow, traffic jam, etc. For its architectural impact, since most of the buildings in the city are

adjoining to the road, some structure may lose its facade and its streetscape due to the road

widening, which will eventually result in loss of its overall urban scene of the area. In

conclusion, the significance of architecture in transportation project is minor, but still has impact

on the design or art part of the project. However, the impact of planning is serious that one small
misstep to the planning of the transportation system or project may affect the people and the city,

or worse the country’s growth.
