INTRODUCTION

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR FORMATTING
 Print on one side of the page
 Margins 1½ inch on the binding edge. 1 inch margin for the other edge.
 Font Times New Roman or Arial. 14 point size for headings. 12 point size for sub-
heading and text. Minimum font size (if necessary) within a table or a figure can be 8
point.
 Line Spacing: one-and-a-half (1.5) Single line spacing should be given for abstract,
declaration, figure captions, table titles, figure legends, footnotes, and references.
 Page Numbering
1. Page numbers for the prefacing materials of the thesis shall be in small Roman
numerals and should be at bottom–right of the pages.
2. Page numbers for the body of the thesis should be in Arabic numerals and should be
at bottom–right of the pages. The pagination should start with the first page of
Chapter 1 and should continue throughout the text (including tables, figures, and
appendices).
3. The chapters should have numbers in Arabic numerals and should be written as
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. This should be followed by the title of the chapter (e.g.,
Introduction, etc.). The font size should be 16-point, bold for the titles.
4. Figures, tables, graphs should be positioned within the body of the text immediately
after citation and should not be positioned separately.
5. Units should be in SI format.
 Header and footer
1. Footer should contain title of the thesis and name of the student at left. Page number
should come at right. Font is Times New Roman or Arial 8 point size.
2. Header should contain the word 'Synopsis' at right for synopsis. Font is Times New
Roman or Arial 8 point size. For final report, there should be no writing in header.
 References
1. Cite the references in text as (Frater & Packer, 1992) or (Lo et al., 2001)
2. Follow APA, MLA or Harvard style of referencing in Bibliography.
