EDI 685.04 Philosophy of Education

I believe education helps to teach students to face challenges and obstacles of the world
around them. It is my job as professional elementary educator, to help students develop skills
and grow their knowledge in which is necessary to become a lifelong learner.
In order for the students to grow and develop as person they must have teacher that is
caring, loves learning and appreciates the various types of learners. I believe my classroom
curriculum need to foster the learning experiences with combination of student center activities
and teacher center activities. I want to develop an open teaching environment that is free of
barriers to develop a more inclusive learning atmosphere. One way to develop the best learning
atmosphere is create opportunities for the students to communicate their ideas with the lesson
and topics covered in class. I want to provide the students with unique opportunities to build
their knowledge base with hands on experiences with enough time and resources to help the
students make sense of lesson topic.
As a teacher I want to include Blooms Taxonomy, and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge as
how students learn the information. Each student will have opportunities to explore questions to
connect with their learning experiences. I want the students to leave my classroom with skills to
become self-aware as how they can guide their lifelong learning experiences. Learning is
constantly changing and requires a teacher to foster the best learning atmosphere in which every
type of learner can succeed with lesson and grow from their learning experiences.
Another skill that I believe student must hold is collaboration. The workplace is every
changing with requiring individuals to share and reflect their ideas from diverse backgrounds. To
become successful in the workforce requires them to figure out ways to solve various of
problems and situations. Education must provide opportunities for students to practice and
generate new ideas to enhance the learning objectives with others. My class discussions or class
meetings will provide students opportunities to practice working with each other.
Another skill I wish share with my students is enthusiasm for learning how to solve real
world problems. I want to the students to take an active role with how they will discover
information and engage in their community. It is important to students to identify various lesson
concepts and current information related with students life and their own interest.
In order to create the best learners for 21st century and beyond it is important the students
have a teacher with strong respect for all type of learners. I believe teachers should find ways to
setup their classroom for all types of learners as using the best teaching strategies to enhance the
learning objectives. I want to design my classroom in which students have opportunities to
answer open ended questions, encourage group projects, and adapts learning outcomes based on
what areas the students wish to discover. I want my elementary students to enjoy language arts,
math, and social studies with continue opportunities to develop new skills. I plan on creating
plenty of opportunities for the learners to share, reflect, and inspire with various of classroom
activities to help create deeper connections. I believe each learner needs a teacher that will show
compassion, build positive relations and work towards improving their teaching strategies. I feel
each student must feel safe and respected in order to share their ideas the school community. I
will empower students to achieve the lesson goals. I am someone who believes in every learner.
