INSTALLATION GUIDE AND GETTING STARTED

This brief guide explains the installation process and getting started with csTime. For more detailed
information about using cstime, please refer to the Users Manual.

It is recommended you install and configure the terminals first, followed by the software.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

ƒ csTime is installed on one sole machine, during the installation process the program, database and
web server will be installed. You will need the appropriate permissions to be able to carry out the
installation.

ƒ The users of the application and the clocking terminals will connect to cstime via the network, this
means that a series of TCP ports should be open (by default 8091, 8092, and 8094).

ƒ If necessary, the firmware of the terminals and the program which allows them to function can be
downloaded from the machine on which csTime has been installed. To do this, the UDP port 2000 is
used, which should be taken into consideration when opening ports.

ƒ cstime can be installed on machines with Windows XP Pro, 2003 Server or Vista.

ƒ csTime uses .Net 2.0

ƒ It is important that you have sufficient memory space. It is recommended you have 1GB memory
or more, taking into consideration the requirements of the system itself and any other software
program already installed on the machine.

ƒ csTime and its terminals should be registered and activated before they are used. It is
recommended you use the Internet to do this, although, if necessary, you may also register them
by telephone. The registration can be made from any machine which has access to both the
Internet and the machine on which cstime has been installed.

ƒ The machines to be used by the users of csTime should have a navigator (MS Explorer 6.x or 7.x;
or Mozilla Firefox 2.x) with Flash support and an up to date version of Acrobat Reader.

BACK-UP

csTime is a system which is designed to store information. It systematically makes copies of the
computer set up and saves it in a back up folder in the form of zip files. It also systematically makes
copies of clockings so that if a serious problem occurs the situation can be restored with minimal or nil
loss of information. The back up folder is created by default in the directory of the folder where csTime
has been installed.

The copies in the back up folder serve to recover information in the face of a mistake made by the user.
To protect yourself against a serious problem on the machine or the hard drive on which csTime has
been installed, it is strongly recommended you make back up copies on external devices (tapes, discs…)
and that the following elements are copied:

Backup folder

csTime.mov

As an additional security method, it is recommended that a copy is periodically made of the file
csTime.vdb. To make a copy of this file, the csTime server will first need to be halted.
