Corona Virus

Coronviruses were first discovered in the 1930s when an acute respiratory infection of domesticated
chickens was shown to be caused by infectious bronchitis virus (IBV). In the 1940s, two more animal
coronaviruses, mouse hepatitis virus (MHV) and transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), were
isolated.
Human coronaviruses were discovered in the 1960s. The earliest ones studied were from human
patients with the common cold, which were later named human coronavirus. Other human
coronaviruses have since been identified, in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2012, and SARS-CoV-2 in 2019.
Most of these have involved serious respiratory tract infections that can be mild to lethal.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a virus.
The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in
more severe cases, difficulty breathing, and pain in joints. Coronavirus disease spreads primarily
through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person
touches a surface or objects that has the virus on it, and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.
In December 2019, a pneumonia outbreak was reported in Wuhan, China. On 31 December 2019,
the outbreak was traced to a novel strain of coronavirus, which was given the interim name 2019-
nCoV by the World Health Organization (WHO), later renamed as COVID-19 As of 31 March 2020;
there have been at least 38,743 confirmed deaths and more than 801,400 confirmed cases in the
coronavirus pneumonia pandemic. The virus has a 96% similarity to a bat coronavirus, so it is widely
suspected to originate from bats as well. The pandemic has resulted in travel restrictions and
nationwide lockdowns in several countries.

There’s currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you: Do
Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze
Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell
Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell
Don't Touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean
