Education and Training

o Currently studying at Coastal Carolina University to earn a bachelor’s in music

education, and possibly a minor in special or elementary education

o SC Teaching Fellows- provide field experience opportunities to grow from and reflect on

o CPAS (Coastal Percussive Arts Society)- provides ample knowledge and experience of

the art of percussion through collaboration and comradery.

Professional and Work Experience

o J.O.Y School- assisting and instructing music to individuals with special needs. This

opportunity allowed growth in thinking creatively when forming lesson plans with

children of all different needs.

o Early Childhood Learning and Development Center- introducing music to preschoolers.

This opportunity allowed personal growth and development of class management skills.

o Build a Bear Workshop- assisting kids of all ages in picking out a stuffed animal and

making the experience special for them. This opportunity allows me to interact with

children and parents, so I am working on my communication skills.

Community Service

o Dalton and Linda Floyd Mentoring Program- Once a week I travel to a local elementary

school and spend an hour with a student in need of direction/a friend. I play fun games

with her in addition to go through academic success and social strategies.

Recent Performances
o Fall 2019 CCU Percussion Ensemble- performed in 3 pieces; Mercury Rising, Raspberry

Tango, and Tetracurrent. Participating in these small group ensembles enhanced skills

involving communication, teamwork, and accountability.

o Spring 2019 CCU Percussion Ensemble- performed 1 piece; Mas Fuerte. This concert

also featured accomplished marimba player. Dr. Andy Harnsberger

o Spring 2019 CCU Calypsamba- Developed skills in Caribbean, Latin, and Island-Style

music, which featured world-renowned steel pan player and composer Liam Teague.

o Fall 2019 CCU Calypsamba- Further developed skills in steel pan music, featuring

Michael Mixtacki and Nate Lee.

o Fall 2019 Wind Ensemble

o Fall 2019 Spectrum Concert

o Spring 2020 South Carolina Day of Steel Concert, featuring Andy Narell and Dave

Longfellow

Honors and Awards

o South Carolina Teaching Fellows 2018 Cohort member- CERRA (Center for Educator

Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement) awards $24,000 over 4 years in university in

exchange for teaching in-state at a public institution for 4 years. This program offers

opportunities for professional development, community involvement, and student

teaching experiences in real classrooms.
