between 1929 and 1933, the AITUC split twice -- N M Joshi led corporist
tendency formed All India Trade Union Federation (AITUF in 1930 which
is--reforminst nationalistled, peaceful legislations), then communists led by
Ranadive, RTUC (Red Trade Union Congress, 1931). They later rejoined in
1935.

1934 – RTUC (Red Trade Union Congress) merged with AITUC


Note – As on 1934, there were 2 central federations (AITUC and
NTUF) 1940 – NTUF got dissolved and merged with AITUC at Nagpur
(Note – Split of AITUC started at Nagpur and got united at Nagpur again)

Note--NTUF formed by merging National Federation of Labour (NFL) and


ITUF in 1932.

1941 – AITUC again got split and IFL ( founded by M.N Roy -Indian
Federation of Labour) with President as Jamna Das Mehta and General
Secretary as M N Roy was formed.

1947 – Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) is the trade


union wing of the Indian National Congress (INC), formed 3 days before the
independence.(originated from Gandhi Seva Sangh – Hindustan
Mazdoor Sevak Sangh), was the initiative of Gulzari Lal Nanda with 1st
President as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

founded in Howrah by socialists, Forward Bloc followers--
Mehta, R.S. Ruikar, Maniben Kara, Shibnath Banerjee, R.A. Khedgikar, T.S.
Ramanujam, V.S. Mathur, G.G. Mehta. R.S. Ruikar was elected
president and Ashok Mehta general secretary. absorbed
the Royist Indian Federation of Labour and the Hind Mazdoor Panchayat,( which was formed in 1948 by
socialists CONGRESSION AFTER SPLIT leaving the increasingly communist dominated AITUC )

IFL merged into the Hind Mazdoor Sabha –split of HMS United Trade Union
Congress(UTUC)

Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) ---Jana Sangh party BJP formed it

Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU)---the AITUC got further split and
Communist Party (Marxist) formed it. Today 11 Central Trade Union

Mr. Joseph Baptista., Agarkar , Jamnadas Dwarkadas, a well known member of the Bombay Mill
Owners’ Association, Dr. Nair, of Madras, and Mr. Jones, of Calcutta. Jones was the general

formed several associations during this period: 
Bombay and Bengal Chamber of Commerce, Bombay Mill Owners'
Association, 
Indian Jute Manufacturers' Association, Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Dinshaw Edulji Wacha(DE WACHA) He was associated with


the cotton industry and was the President of the Indian Merchants' Chamber in 1915

Bombay Textile Labour Union, under the leadership of N.M. Joshi,


became the first trade union to be recognised under this Act in 1926.this act
was also drafted by Joshi.
