3. GENERAL DESIGN

3.01 Optical fibers.

All optical fibers contained within optical units must meet the requirements specified in the IEC 60793 standard.

The fibers must be bondable by the fusion splicing type.

The fibers and the optical units must be clearly distinguished and identified by a color code on its coating, standard TIA-598-A.

The cover material of the optical fiber must be mechanically removable.

Physical characteristics:
- Diameter of the coating : 125 ± 1.0 • m
- Diameter of the coating 245 ± 10 • m
- Mode field diameter singlemode 9.0 ± 1 • m
- Mode field diameter multimode : 50.0 / 62.5 ± 1 • m
- Concentricity error <1 • m
- No circularity of the coating <2%

3.02 Optical drives.

Optical drives transported fibers and protected from damage from the environment and forces induced failures such as longitudinal
compression, shock, bending, torsion, traction, heating effects of short and long duration and humidity. The optical unit should
contain a suitable compound to protect the optical fibers from moisture and vibration.

Optical drives should contain 6 optical fibers. If for example 24 optical fibers in the cable are requested, then there must be four
optical units each having six optical fibers therein.

No joints or repairs are allowed in optical fibers or optical drives in the wires forming a stretch.

3.03 resistant elements.

The cable will have two resistive elements, the central and outer, the combination of both will the mechanical strength of the cable:

- Resistant element central or core cable: dielectric element that may have a thermoplastic jacket to provide the necessary
geometry for cabling optical drives over it.

Terms of Supply Fiber Optic Cables

ETG - B.4.05 mod. 0 Date: 06/05/14. Page 9 from 12

- Tough element: Consist two or more layers of aramid yarns applied on the core set - optical cable units.

3.04 Design protective cover

The outer shell should be designed to store and protect the internal elements of the cable damage due to moisture, sunlight,
thermal and mechanical stresses.

The cover material should be dielectric and anti-fungal. The cover is of a uniform fit appropriately to the hardware that will support
diameter. The extrudate will be smooth surface to minimize accumulation of ice.

Four. GENERAL CONSTRUCTION CHARACTERISTICS

4.01 Nominal length of continuous strip the cable.

The length of the cable each spool will be defined according to the study of the layout of the cable. If necessary be continuous
binding several cable sections by fusion or MUFAs, they must be fused in the same order in which they were manufactured. For this
the manufacturer must identify the reels consecutively.

5. FACTORY TESTS

The general concepts applicable to tests performed in factory teams are those indicated in ETG-E.0.01 General conditions for the
execution of acceptance tests of cables, equipment, materials and accessories.

TRANSELEC reserves the right to inspect its personnel or agents, the development of evidence. Depending on the result of them,
you may request additional evidence.

5.01 Acceptance Tests

5.01.1 Optical fibers

Measures should be made in 100% attenuation of the fibers by one of the methods applicable to singlemode and multimode
fibers. The tests are performed in the 850-1300 nm wavelengths for multimode and 1310-1550 nm, for singlemode, as is
indicated in IEC 60793-1-40 standard.

5.01.2 Optical drives

They should be made to a minimum sample of 10% optical drives, measurement of the following parameters:

- Dimensions.
GENERAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS - ETG

Terms of Supply Fiber Optic Cables

ETG - B.4.05 mod. 0 Date: 06/05/14. Page 10 from 12

- Tensile strength and elongation.

- Electric resistance.

5.01.3 full Cable

For the full cable will be performed the following tests:

- Verification of physical dimensions.
- unit weight.
- outer diameter of the entire cable.
- Check the tightness of the compound of protection against moisture from the fibers and everything stated in item
"Characteristics of the Cable".
- Factory certification for mechanical tests, cable traction, compression, torsion, impact, etc.

6. CONDITIONS PACKING, TRANSPORT, STORAGE AND HANDLING

Equipment and all accessories are packed and labeled for shipment, transportation and storage, complying with the provisions of the
ETG-B.0.02 General Conditions for Packaging, Transport and Storage Equipment and Materials.

In each reel may dial the net weight of the cable length, section and cable type, gross weight of the reel and all other necessary
information on a card resistant firmly attached to the end of the conductor inside the reel. This same information, together with the
identification of the supply contract, the serial number of the manufacturer and all the necessary markings for sending and
destination, must be painted at the end of the reel with indelible paint.

On each reel must be indicated clearly with an arrow the direction in which the reel can be rolled without the cable release.

The optical cable and accessories can be packed in reel metal or wood with their respective phytosanitary certification, especially as
described in ISPM No. 15: "International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures".

The packaging of the optical cable will allow access to both ends of the cable to perform tests on the fibers.

The ends of the cable must be sealed by a suitable method to prevent moisture ingress.

The packaging will be adequate to withstand the effects of a rough treatment at the ports of embarkation and disembarkation and
during shipping and to prevent loss or theft. It must also withstand the effects of prolonged outdoor storage at the port of arrival under
adverse weather conditions for several months.
