ENGL 1302

ENGL 1302
Annotated Bibliography
Due:

For this assignment you will create an annotated bibliography, which consists of finding
and documenting sources, along with describing each source’s relevance to your own
research. You are to find eight (8) reputable resources on the topic you earlier proposed
to me. Two (2) of these sources will be articles/essays from the reader in Wood’s
Perspectives on Argument. The other six sources will need to be from academic journals
and no shorter than two (2) pages in length. For each source (including the ones from
Wood) I would like you to do the following:

1. Document it using MLA Format

2. Write 2-3 sentences summarizing the article/book chapter/essay.
3. Write 1-2 sentences analyzing your source as to the relevance to your own
research.

EXAMPLE:

Gale, Nathan. “How to Write an Annotated Bibliography.” Shorthorn Journal. 15.1

(2008): 51-2. Gale argues that all students (even graduate students) need

help in formatting their papers. He proposes an entire semester course be taught

simply on MLA style. This article will be useful to me, as I am researching the

writing of academic papers as a requirement of some college level classes. Gale’s

argument is useful in that it makes the case for standardized

formatting.

Remember: You will have eight of these entries arranged in alphabetical order,
double spaced, and typed. Please do not add an extra space between entries. If you
need help with MLA formatting refer to the blue section in Wood or to your copy of
A Writer’s Reference.
