Introduction: It is considered the highest figure in Spanish literature
and is universally known for having written the ingenious Hidalgo Don
Quixote de la Mancha, which many critics have described as the first
modern novel and one of the best works of universal literature.
Biography: Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra was born on September
29, 1547 in Alcalá de Henares. He was the son of Rodrigo Cervantes
Saavedra and Leonor Cortinas. in 1571 fought in the Battle of Lepanto
against the Turks. In 1600 he settled in Valladolid, where he wrote his
great work "El Quijote de la Mancha". In 1615 he published the second
part of "El Quijote de la Mancha ". Living in Madrid, he fell ill and died
on April 22, 1616.
Don Quixote de la mancha: It is the first work demystifying the
chivalrous and courteous tradition for its burlesque treatment. It
represents the first modern novel; As such, it exerted a huge influence
throughout the European narrative. As "the best literary work ever
written," he led the list of the best literary works in history.
Awards: He got about 11 awards, 16 accolades and 10 homages. The
awards were highlighted as the most important in terms of Spanish
literature.
Old age: Cervantes ' fame comes to his full maturity. At this time he
began to frequent literary colloquiums. He died on April 23, 1616 and 4
days before he finished the dedication to the count of Lemos. The time
that Cervantes had a little glory of success was his last 10 years of life.
My opinion: I think that this writer is one of the most important in
Spanish literature and helped develop all the characteristics that we
know today according to writing.
