According to the author, what is an important wrong linguistic view at establishing a

proper English grammar model in eighteenth-century (this conceptual error is even

today present when considering “a Good English use”)

According to what the author mentioned, the conceptual error that is still present today to

support this, when mentioning that "you should not divide an infinite. However, it must be

taken into account that the previous theory was not very exact in all the data. this is why

this error is still considered "good use in English"). English do not match up, a lot of the

time, with letters of written English. If we cannot use the letters of the alphabet in a

consistent way to represent the sounds we make

2.2. Rules

(i) The old theory failed to fully explain all the data.

The rule I did not obey in the first was: "you must not divide an infinitive and the correct

form"
The old theory could not fully explain all the data.

(ii) I don't remember the name of the person to whom I gave the book

I don't remember the name of the person I gave to the book.

2.3. Chores

2.3.1. Another term used in the description of the parts of the speech is

"Determinant". What are the determinants? How many examples were included in

this chapter?

Determinants are terms that precede the name to clarify what the name refers to. Use the

pages in this section to use the determinants in English correctly.

Metal cans are recyclable

The metal can’s are recyclable.

2.3.2 In this chapter, we discuss "correctness" in grammar. What is hypercorrection?

Hypercorrection is a term used in linguistics that refers to some type of error or

mispronunciation in the language that is generally due to a desire to be too formal or too

correct. Generally, those who make the hypercorrection mistake take a linguistic rule and

apply it where it should not be applied. Hypercompensation and hyperforeignism are some

of the most common types of errors. In English, these errors are often grammatical, and

some forms of hypercorrection in this language involve personal pronouns and the use of

prepositions at the end of a sentence. Hypercorrection can also occur in pronunciation,

usually in the cases of people who are studying a new language. (Prucommercialre, s.f.)
2.3.3. The structural analysis of a basic sentence in English (NP + V + NP) is often

described as "Subject Verb Object" or SVO. The Basics The order of the sentences in

a Gaelic sentence (V + NP + NP) is described as "Subject Verb Object" or VSO.

2.3.3.2 Kazuko-ga gakkoo-de eigo-o naratte imasu

Kazuko school at English learn be

(“Kazuko is learning English at school”)

2.3.3.3 Divergence in language syntactic patterns is responsible for the patterns of

mistakes made by the English language learners Since Korean English learners

produce sentences like * I like ice cream and * Book read, what can you do ? What

does the word order in Korean say? (Taken from Gordon T. 2012)

I ice-cream like and I book read

4. According to the second text, answer: In the text we can see that in the history of

linguistics we have two ways of understanding grammar: a prescriptive and a

descriptive form; Why is the second understanding considered a breakthrough in

linguistics?

Descriptive linguistics is a breakthrough, because descriptive linguistics deals with the

elements of verbal language and describes word classes, syntax, grammatical rules, and

phonemes.
