8. Discuss the obligations of the physician to the society.

Physicians have obligations to society that parallel their obligations to individual patients. These
obligations include:

 (conduct as professionals and as individuals) should merit the respect of the community
 fulfill the profession's collective responsibility to advocate for the health, human rights,
and well-being of the public
 support initiatives that provide the public with accurate information about health care
 provide news media with accurate information, recognizing this as an obligation to
