 Definition
Poetry is a form of literary art in which
languages is used for its asthetic and
evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu
of, its apparent meaning
According to Aristotle, poetry devided into 3
genres:
1. Epic
2. Lyric
3. satire
 Lines and stanzas
Poetry is separated into pines on pages lines
may be based on the number of matrical feet,
or may emphasize a rhyming pattern at the
end of lines
Lines may serve other function, particularly
where the poem is not written in formal
materical pattern lines can separate, compare
of contast thought expressed in different
units, or can highlight a change in tone
 Visual presentation
Visual elements have become an important
part of the poet’s toolbox, and many poets
have enought to use visual presebtation
for a wide range of purposes
 Diction
Poetic diction treats of the manner in which
language is used and refers not only the
sound but also the underlyng meaning and
its interaction which sound on form poetic
diction may include rhetorical divices such
as simile and metaphore, as well as tones
of voiches
 Genre of poetry :
1. Narrative poetry
2. Epic poetry
3. Dramatic poetry
4. Satirical poetry
5. Lyric poetry
6. Elegy
7. Verse fable
8. Prose poetry
