LESSON PLAN

WEEK FOUR LESSON ONE MONDAY 12/08/2019


Unit Title: 6.5 Prayer Salvation Topic: Eucharist

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Extension: Students will be asked to create a short story (narrative) with the writing prompt: “I prayed and I prayed…”
Support: Students who require assistance will engage in collaborative work aided by the teacher when writing about ways in which they pray.
TIMING LESSON CONTENT RESOURCES
MOTIVATION: Projector
1. Students will be provided with an overview of the lesson. This will remain on the whiteboard
5 minutes whilst students work. OneNote
2. Students will engage in a reflective prayer session. A short song will be played. During this time
students will reflect on what they have learnt thus far and what else there is left to learn. Feelings Ball.
LESSON BODY:
3. Engage in explicit teaching of relationships with God: God desires to be in a close relationship
with everyone. In order to develop a good relationship people need to give time to each other, to
listen, to share, to be at ease and to sit in comfortable silence. Relationships are based on trust
30 minutes and respect. People can develop a good relationship with God through prayer. To live good lives
and make good decisions people need to develop a close relationship with God.
4. Using OneNote students will answer three journal question 4 journal questions:
a. In what ways can people develop a closer relationship with God?
b. Why is it important to pray and develop a close relationship with God?
c. How does our relationship with God affect our decisions?
d. What did Jesus teach so that people could relate to God in prayer?

5. Students will then create a list of 10 reasons why people might pray.

Closure:
5 minutes 5. Students will use the Feelings Ball to throw around the classroom. Upon catching the ball
students must identify one emotion and retell an occasion when they have experienced the
emotion.
6. All students must have a turn at receiving and disposing the Feelings Ball.

Students who did not complete the jigsaw activity from the previous lesson must do so in the
closure of this lesson.

ASSESSMENT:
Work sample: OneNote pages will be assessed and a checklist used. Are students able to:

1. Identify how people develop a relationship with God.


2. Describe why people develop a relationship with God.
3. List reasons why people might pray.
