Additional require- All material supplied for the German marked shall be supplied with a “Ü-mark” or “CE-
ments to steel sup- mark” according to the newest version of “Bauregelliste A” for material supplied with an
plied for the Ger- “Ü-mark” or “Bauregelliste B” for material supplied with an “CE-mark”.
man marked. Material with thickness above 30mm and wider that 200mm shall be tested according to
SEP1390:1996.
For material up to 30mm of thickness may the content of carbon not exceed 18% in the
charge analysis.
It is the responsibly of the tower manufacture to ensure that the towers for the German
marked are manufactures according to the requirements stated in DIN 18800-7 and
related standards in order to be “Ü” marked.
In case of non-conformance between the manufacturing documentation and DIN 18800-
7 shall Siemens Wind Power be contacted for written approval in due time before the
production is started.

Surface condition: Wind turbine towers are fatigue loaded structures and for this reason sharp edged im-
perfections cannot be accepted on the surface.
Surface conditions of plates according to DS/EN 10163-2:2005, class B, subclass 3.
Surface condition of plates supplied for the North American marked may be delivered
according to ASTM A 6/A 6M: 2005.
Surface conditions of bevels according to DS/EN 9013:2004, quality classification 1.
All sharp edges must be deburred after cutting or machining.

Tolerances: Material thickness according to DS/EN 10029:1993, table 1 class B. Tolerances of

plates supplied for the North American marked may be delivered according to ASTM A
6/A 6M: 2005.
All other geometrical tolerances according to drawings delivered by Siemens.

Documentation: A set of certificates is to be sent to the delivery address of the plate material. The certifi-
cates must arrive at least 24 hours before the plates will arrive at the delivery address.
The certificates must correspond to the delivered plate thickness.

Marking: Marking is to be done according to sketch attached to this instruction.

There must be full traceability between the plates and the certificates.
Marking must be done with a hard stamp.

Delivery conditions: The plates must be shipped in a matter that secures that the plates are not getting
scratched during shipping, or have the bevelled edges destroyed.
When unloading the plates, it must be possible to unload the plates one at the time us-
ing a forklift, without scratching the plates, or damaging the bevelled.

Tolerance for bevels.

An I-seam must be used for both long

seams and round seams where the
plate thickness is 15mm or below.

±2°
25°

A 50-degree V – seam must be used for

all long seams where the plate thickness
is above15mm.

6±1

±2°
30°

A 60-degree V – seam must be used for

round seams between plate/plate and
plate/L-flanges, where the thickness is
above 15mm.
Furthermore is must be used where a
14mm plate is welded to a 16mm plate.

6±1

±2°
50°

A 50 degree symmetrical K – seam

must be used for welding between
round seam and base T-flange.

NOTE: In cases where the base flange

is an L-flange a 60-degree V-seam must
be used.
2±1

In cases where the difference in

thickness of two shells welded
2
together exceeds 2mm, the thick
2 shell must be bias cut at a mini-
1
mum ratio of 1:4 on the inside.

Tolerances for plate cutting.

Marking is to be placed at one of the four corners,

about 100mm from each bevel. All marking must
be done with a hard stamp.
The marking must be placed on the opposite side
than the bevels.
All bevels must be cut from the same side of the
plate.
All other tolerances according to DS/EN 9013.
Tolerance class 1.

The height of a shell that is welded to a top or

middle flange may not exceed 1900mm. This de-
mand also applies for a shell welded to a base
flange (Except T – flanges).
All other shells may be up to 3000mm high.

All dimensions and tolerances are shown in

millimetres.

H/J/K/L: +/-2 mm

• Max. 3mm difference between H1 ad H2

• Max. 3mm difference between L3 and L4
