Delivery condition for steel plates for tower production must comply with the following:
General:
All material. Material must be suitable for welding using welding method 111, 136, 121 according to
ISO 4063:2001. (SMAW, FCAW and SAW)
Any deviation from this specification shall be accepted in writing by the engineering
department of Siemens Wind Power A/S.
Material:
General requirement The impact properties and tensile properties shall be verified for each parent plate.
for all steel types. The material certificates shall at least be delivered with a 3.1 certificate according to
DS/EN 10204:2004, including specification of the following chemical elements: C, Si,
Mn, P, S, Al, N, Cr, Cu, Mo, Nb, Ti, Ni and V.
The content of manganese shall at least be 20 times higher that sulphur.
Weld repair of the base metal by the material manufacturer or supplier is not permitted.

Additional require- All material supplied for the German marked shall be supplied with a “Ü-mark” or “CE-
ments to steel sup- mark” according to the newest version of “Bauregelliste A” for material supplied with an
plied for the Ger- “Ü-mark” or “Bauregelliste B” for material supplied with an “CE-mark”.
man marked. Material with thickness above 30mm and wider that 200mm shall be tested according to
SEP1390:1996.
For material up to 30mm of thickness may the content of carbon not exceed 18% in the
charge analysis.
It is the responsibly of the tower manufacture to ensure that the towers for the German
marked are manufactures according to the requirements stated in DIN 18800-7 and
related standards in order to be “Ü” marked.
In case of non-conformance between the manufacturing documentation and DIN 18800-
7 shall Siemens Wind Power be contacted for written approval in due time before the
production is started.
Surface condition: Wind turbine towers are fatigue loaded structures and for this reason sharp edged im-
perfections cannot be accepted on the surface.
Surface conditions of plates according to DS/EN 10163-2:2005, class B, subclass 3.
Surface condition of plates supplied for the North American marked may be delivered
according to ASTM A 6/A 6M: 2005.
Surface conditions of bevels according to DS/EN 9013:2004, quality classification 1.
All sharp edges must be deburred after cutting or machining.
Documentation: A set of certificates is to be sent to the delivery address of the plate material. The certifi-
cates must arrive at least 24 hours before the plates will arrive at the delivery address.
The certificates must correspond to the delivered plate thickness.
Delivery conditions: The plates must be shipped in a matter that secures that the plates are not getting
scratched during shipping, or have the bevelled edges destroyed.
When unloading the plates, it must be possible to unload the plates one at the time us-
ing a forklift, without scratching the plates, or damaging the bevelled.
