Purpose
The purpose of the Classroom Management Clinic is to discuss
effective, research based classroom management strategies in an
environment that promotes learning and growth amongst educators; in
an effort to appropriately implement these strategies in the classroom.

• List the seven classroom management tips provided in the video.
After Video Discussion Questions:
1. How do students react when Ms. V redirects them with a whisper?
2. Do you see a difference when Ms. tries positive narration?
3. What advice would you give Ms. V to continue improving her
practice?

Seven Classroom Management Tips from Video:
1. Establish a routine
2. Use physical proximity to prevent potential disruptions
3. Develop individual strategies to redirect students who act out
4. Use non-verbal cues to redirect students.
5. Use games and competitions to keep students engaged.
6. PLAN: Break down lessons into their smallest component parts.
7. Use whole class strategies like positive narration.
Classroom Management Scenario Activity
• Work within your group.
• For your assigned scenario, follow the directions provided on the
scenario sheet. Reflect on the tips provided in the video to assist with
completing the task.
• Designate a recorder to write out the response/responses to your task.
Also, designate a spokesperson to read your group’s scenario and
share your group’s response.
• Others groups, please feel free to add suggestions when each group
presents.
Next Steps
Classroom Management Journal: For ONE day, reflect on your day
in the classroom. Write down student behaviors that you encountered
(minimum 2; max 4) and explain how you handled one of the behaviors.
Describe any strategies or techniques utilized. Then reflect on the
outcome. Was it positive? Was it negative? Was it just okay? If negative
or just okay, what do you think could be done differently?

discuss.
