WRITING:
– use correct spelling of basic and new vocabulary;
– use new words accurately in sentences

Similar to “Go-Fish” but using relatives and the phrases:


TIME PRESENTATION OF LESSON
Introduction:
Aaniin Kina Wiya, todays lesson is on family members.

Hand Raising Activity:


How many siblings do you have? – List off numbers and allow students to raise
hands.
Who has a brother?
Who has a sister?
Who has both?
What are some other family members?
Does anyone know the Anishnaabemowin word for any of the family members?

APPLICATION/ACTIVITIES
Gdoonji-waabmaag na nda nwendaaganag – Have you seen my relatives?

Card Game will be explained to the class, and guidance will be given through out
the game to use the phrases provided and to help with pronounciation of the
family members Anishnaabemowin names.

Ndnakmigziwin “Gdoonji- waabmaag nda-wendaaganag na?”: Have you seen my relatives?


My game is “Have you seen my Relatives?”

Niizhwewaan taadwinak ga-aabjitoomin


We will be playing using two playing card sets.

Kawe, miigwen kina wiya naanan taadwinak


First, give everyone 5 cards
.
Maanoo ezhkongaazjig taadwinag – ga-aabjitoomin baamaa.
Leave the left over cards untouched, we will use them later.

Gwejim gikinoo’amaagan wii-mizhig gda-nwedaagnag


You ask a student for your relative.

Giishpin eyaawaad gda-nwendaagnag, ga-miinik


They will give the card to you if they have your relative.

Giishpin eyaawaasig, daapin bezhig.


If they do not have your relative, you will pick up a card.

Ewaanji-yaawaad taadwinag bakinaage


The one with the most cards wins

SUMMARIZATION/CONCLUSION OF LESSON:
Word Search of the Family Members in Anishnaabemowin.
The Anishnaabemowin words will be provided but they will fill out the English for
the word after completing the word search.
These will be looked over to see what’s been remembers and what needs more
practice.
