ORAL COMMUNICATION:
– communicate in familiar contexts using basic vocabulary and simple sentences (e.g., give
simple directions – Put the books there);
– participate in structured oral language activities appropriate for the grade (e.g., answer
questions with simple sentences – I am not going there);

READING:
– read simple sentences aloud using pictures.
– participate in structured reading activities appropriate for the grade (e.g., identify words
or phrases that contain the same root words);

WRITING:
– participate in structured writing activities appropriate for the grade (e.g., write simple
sentences that describe a thing or animal); – spell words and phrases correctly in simple
sentences, using available resources to confirm spelling.
GRAMMAR/LANGUAGE CONVENTION AND VOCABULARY TO BE COVERED:
– formation of the plural of nouns through the addition of suffixes (e.g., many bottles,
fruits, trees)
– interrogative sentences (e.g., What colour is it?)
– simple negative sentences using a pronoun (e.g., No, it is not; No, she is not eating)

TIME PRESENTATION OF LESSON
Introduction:
Short Blurb: Hello everyone, today we will be learning about money words relating
to money as well as how to ask how much money someone has.
But first:
What is money?
How do you get it?
What do you use it for?

APPLICATION/ACTIVITIES
Handout – Coin/Money names – testing the vocabulary already learned/known
PowerPoint – Review of the vocabulary – helps reinforce the vocabulary as well as
give the students who know less a chance to learn.
- Have students repeat the words as a group on the PowerPoint
Handout – vocabulary sheets (from PPT) – will have formula for counting change –
for future reference and if anyone is struggling to remember the words.

Game: The Grocery Game


budgeting game, collect 5 foods, coin/money amounts will be in anishnaabe, foods
will not be. The foods could be included in the lesson for a class at a higher level.
Handout and Powerpoint will include necessary vocabulary
SUMMARIZATION/CONCLUSION OF LESSON:
Final Mini Quiz
- Asking random change amounts
- Asking them to identify nickels,dimes, quarters etc.
