Dear
Congressman
Jack
Bergman
I
am
writing
you
today
to
address
and
to
ask
for
your
support
for
the
House
of
Representative’s
Bill
3580
–
“Protecting
Student
Athletes
From
Concussions
Act
of
2017.”
There
is
more
evidence
now
on
the
dangers
of
concussions
than
ever
before
and
it
is
every
adult’s
responsibility
to
protect
a
child
from
those
dangers.
This
bill
would
take
a
step
in
that
direction
by
educating
people
on
these
dangers
and
by
putting
skilled
individuals
in
the
right
place
to
assess
if
a
student
athlete
is
ready
to
return
to
sport
after
forced
contact,
trauma,
or
suspected
concussion.
From
athletic
directors,
trainers,
coaches,
teachers,
parents,
and
students
every
individual
involved
in
sports
needs
to
be
educated
on
concussions
and
aware
of
the
dangers
of
returning
to
sport
too
soon.
It
is
our
obligation
as
those
who
know
the
dangers
to
educate
others
and
put
a
plan
of
action
into
place.
We
need
to
protect
those
who
are
unable
or
unaware
of
their
possible
conditions
and
this
bill
will
do
that.
As
you
constituent,
a
student
member
of
the
American
Physical
Therapy
Association,
and
concerned
citizen
I
am
asking
you
to
support
this
bill
so
that
the
children
of
our
state
are
safe
to
play
the
sports
they
love.
