The Race Track

Henry Ford is a famous man. He made cars. He formed a
company. It is called the Ford Motor Company. He started it
in 1903. It is still making cars today.
Cars grew more popular after Ford’s company formed.
More people could afford to buy them. Cars changed the
way that people lived.
People have grown to love their cars. Many people drive
every day. A new sport was born. Auto racing began around
the 1900s. People enjoyed the thrill of a race. The National
Association for Stock Car Racing (NASCAR) was formed
in 1948.
The sport has changed over time. Cars have raced on
dirt tracks. Now they mostly race on pavement. The shapes
of the tracks have changed. They are oval. They also have
steep sides. This track design helps cars go faster.
Of course, the cars go faster, too. Henry Ford might be
surprised if he were alive today. His dream has taken off!
