32 Filter-type breathing equipment shall be used only in areas where API RP 54 section
sufficient oxygen exists and where no toxic materials or vapours are 4.4.5
present in hazardous concentrations. CAUTION: Gas mask canisters that
are merely designed to neutralise toxic gas do not provide necessary
protection and should not be used in drilling and well servicing operations
when a hydrogen sulphide or sulphur dioxide environment may be
encountered.
34 Masks which are designed merely to neutralize toxic gas do not provide API RP 54 section
the necessary protection and shall not be used in drilling and well 4.4.7

14 While in service, blowout prevention equipment should be inspected daily and a API RP 54 section
preventer actuation test should be performed on each round trip, but not more 5.4.2
than once per 24-hour period. Notation of actuation tests performed should be
made on the daily report. Annular blowout preventers should be tested in
accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
18 If the blind ram preventer is closed for any purpose, the valves on the choke API RP 54 section
lines or relief lines located below the blind rams should be opened to bleed off 5.4.6
any pressure prior to opening the rams.
19 Designated rig employees shall have adequate understanding of and be able to API RP 54 section

formation, the use of a rabbit is recommended to verify that tubular stands are
free of ice plugs befor pipe is run in the hole.
37 Hydrocarbon-fueled engines should be shut down during refueling operations API RP 54 section
unless such shutdown poses a greater danger to integrity of well operations 7.2.1
such as during well control procedures, tripping, or casing handling operations.

are found within one (1) lay length. 2. Two (2) broken wires are found in one (1) strand
within one (1) lay length.
9 Wire rope used as standing ropes, such as guylines, escape lines, pendant lines etc., API RP 54 section 8.6.3
