Data Analysis
Based on the data from the preassessment, an average of 19 students had an understanding of physical
and chemical changes. Because of that, I decided to teach my unit by starting off with a review of the
different changes and focus on the parts of the standard that required students to Plan and carry out
investigations. I also focused on having students Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to
explain the differences between a physical change and a chemical change.
With that direction on mind, I decided that this unit would should be hands on and engaging and
require the students to be able to communicate with each other about the different chanages.
