ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This is the only place to record the incomputable debt to all those who helped
me throughout the work. The writing of this project has been one of the most
significant academic challenges. Without the support, patience and guidance
of the following people this work would not have been completed. It is to
them I owe my deepest gratitude.

At the outset I would like to record my gratitude to my teacher Prof. Swarnim

Ghatani, Assistant professor in Law, Indian Institute of Legal Studies, for her
supervision, advice and guidance throughout the work. Above all and the most
needed, they provide one unflinching and encouragement in various ways. I
know without her help and the help Indian Institute of Legal Studies is
providing me with, I will not be able to complete my project at all. So I thank
them with my deepest gratitude.

A. Introduction
Gender, equity and human rights, these three things are the pillars of the
international human rights and basically the basis of any democratic system of
any country in the world. Gender equality is at the very heart of international
human rights as upheld by the United Nations. Equity talks of fairness and
impartiality; and above all human rights talk about the rights every human
being enjoys throughout the world, which cannot be taken away or curbed
under any circumstances. This project talks about the nature of gender, equity
and human rights under the purview of international human rights which was
adopted in 1948 by Universal Declaration of Human Rights and is upheld by
the United Nations throughout the world. But like any other project, this one
also has to be stated in light of this country, India with the comparison and the
rules and regulations set by the UDHR.

B. Statement of problem
The primary problem regarding this project is that it needs to be empirical in
nature, and on top of that it needs to be vast and filled with statistical data.
Unfortunately, the time and the recent situation prevent it from being the way
it should be. So instead, a smaller area can be covered with doctrinal research
and data taken from government websites, news and print media.

C. Research objective
As mentioned earlier, the primary purpose of this project is to critically
examine the present provisions of the UDHR and compare it with the present
scenario of this country, to see whether it can be made better or not. The main
objective is to find the loopholes in the rules and regulations when it is applied
in reality in this nation.

D. Research questions
Whether gender, equity and human rights as mentioned in UDHR are being
upheld in this country or not.

If there is a vast discrepancy, then what should be done to prevent that

situation.
E. Hypothesis
Has not been framed yet.

F. Research Methodology
The primary method of this research is doctrinal in nature, with the collection
of information and data from several websites and print mdeia as well as
actual situations taken from informants from two small areas, one being part
of a city and one being part of a village.

G. Sources of Data
1. Books
2. Articles
3. Websites
