Info:
I submitted this because people used to have problems with the current Synth
Guide on GameFAQs, since it came from the Japanese game. The names of things
have been roughly translated and are different from what's in the North
American version now. I'm glad this helped you all.
My info's from personal experience, the GameFAQs message boards, and the
Brady Games Player's Guide. Enjoy!
My guide does not cover everything involved in synthesis, such as most recipe
locations, or the locations of materials that are in treasure chests.
Check one of the other helpful GameFAQs guides.

-VERSION 1 (FINAL)-
-Deleted all my previous update infos, they're not exactly useful in the
first place.
-Deleted my full email address from the guide.

-Deleted most references to treasure chests. It's obvious by now that I'll
NEVER get those done.
-Made a few minor changes to the guide, mostly adding little bits of info.

Note: Nothing other than Orichalcums, Orichalcum+ses, and Mythril materials
are found in treasure chests. In terms of synth materials, anyways.
The Plain Drop List just shows the materials and the enemies that drop them;
nothing fancy.
The other sections contain end-game enemy locations. Maybe I'll jot down
the locations for other Battle Levels sometime, maybe not.
But most people only material hunt at the end-game anyways.

4. Bulky Vendor FAQ Section
---------------------------
When you enter specific areas, you might get a message saying, "There's a Rare
Heartless!" These are the Bulky Vendors. Immediately, you must destroy
every destructable object in the area, and for the love of Pete, do NOT leave
the area! At some point (for me, when I destroy the first thing) some enemies
and the Bulky Vendor(s) will appear.
Now, the Bulky Vendors are special. They cannot be hurt by you, but their HP
decreases at a fixed rate over time. For each quarter of their HP that is
remaining, they have different Reaction Commands.
Note that the Vendors run around like crazy when their HP gets lower, so it
gets harder to get to the front of them to use the Reaction.
You will always get the Bright Material it drops- the drops have 100%
chances. They will also drop numbers of HP, Munny, and Drive orbs, depending
on what Reaction you had.
They also drop Orichalcums. Unlike the Bright Materials, these do NOT
always drop. Now, I have seen conflicting points having to do with the
drop rate of Orichalcums. Some say it varies depending on the Reaction, some
say it's always the same- Obviously the better rate is supposed to be when
its HP is lowest according to the former method.
The proposed difference between drop rates for Orichalcums at the Vendor's
worst and at its best aren't that much different- the lowest rate is higher
than most other synth material drops anyways. I say, if you're wanting an
Orichalcum more, wait a little for its HP to drop somewhat and try. If you
want a specific lower-level Bright material, though, then get it and take
your chances.
So far, I have found all the areas where the Bulky Vendors spawn. They are:

31.05.2017 GameFAQs: Kingdom Hearts II (PS2) Synthesis Guide by megafierce
Land of Dragons | Checkpoint
Beast's Castle | West Hall
Agrabah | Bazaar
Halloween Town | Candy Cane Lane (Two Bulky Vendors spawn here!)***
Olympus Coliseum | Cave of the Dead: Entrance (Two BVs again!)
***Note that at Candy Cane Lane, you must spin the merry-go-round to make
the Heartless appear.
After you defeat one in an area, it won't respawn there for a while, unless
you go out and defeat a different one.
So if you're Orichalcum hunting, you should probably go between Halloween
Town and Olympus Coliseum repeatedly, as they each spawn two.
----------------------------------------
5. Orichalcum+/Ultima Weapon FAQ Section
----------------------------------------
Orichalcum+ses have only one use- making the Ultima Weapon. There are 7 in
all. The recipe says you need 13 to make it, but you can cut the ingredients
in half with an Energy Crystal and it all works out.
UPDATE: I thought this was obvious, but the Moogle needs to be a high enough
level to use Energy materials (LV2) before you can use an Energy Crystal to
make this.
You need the Ultima Recipe to make the Ultima Weapon. It's found in
Twilight Town, in the room where Donald and Goofy were sleeping, as Sora.
Don't go frantically looking for it as Roxas; you'll never find it.
***I should state that the Orichalcum found here is hugging the wall of a
building on a narrow ledge next to the pit below the Org's castle. So you
might not notice it the first time you go through. It is NOT the large
treasure chest.
UPDATE: Well, this seems to happen a lot, though I don't know why people don't
realize it at the time, realize it after going back, or why it isn't given
directly to the moogle in the first place...
When you get the Orichalcum+ prize for obtaining one of every material, YOU
MUST LEAVE THE MOOGLE SHOP AND RETURN TO SUBMIT IT TO THE MOOGLE. If you don't
do so, even if you have all the other necessary materials, the Ultima Weapon
cannot be made. OK? Good.

9. Moogle Level-Ups
--------------------
---------------------------------------------------
10. Total Materials Needed to Synthesize Everything
---------------------------------------------------
Collect all these materials, and you can make every synthesis item without
needing to halve costs of anything (excluding the Ultima Weapon). If you
make two of any item (not counting when you add in a Serenity material to
make the next item on the list) you may not end up with enough materials,
so if this is all you get, don't make any more.
Of course, since the Moogles level up as you synthesize things, and thereby
drop the costs of items in the Creations section, you'll likely end up with
a surplus of materials in the end. But with these numbers, you can make all
the items, in any order that pleases you.

Orichalcum+: 7

11. What to Equip When Item Hunting
-----------------------------------
"dramage notes that each Lucky Lucky equipped will increase the drop rate by
one-third. For example, if a drop rate was originally 12%, one LL will increase
it to 16%. From there, you continue multiplying the new drop rate percentage
by 1.33 until you get the effect of the number of LLs you have equipped. 12%
prorates out to an 88% drop rate with the 7LL setup."
I'm not totally sure if this is true but it's better numbers than nothing.
So there you go!
For convienence's sake, you can multiply the drop rates by seven if you're
using all seven. It actually ends up about the same. Though you probably
don't care.
Anyway.
There are seven Lucky Luckies in total for the main party of Sora, Donald
and Goofy. There are more on some world-specific party members, but I forget
those, and at any rate it's better to use the SDG group.
Sora's skill: Learned based on level. The level depends on which weapon
you picked as Roxas before fighting Twilight Thorn.
Lv. 41 for the sword
Lv. 53 for the shield
And Lv. 99 for the staff.
Sora's weapon: Sweet Memories, obtained after doing the second-last page
quest for Hundred-Acre Wood, called "The Expotition".
Donald's skill: Learned after you, as Sora, fight the Nobodies in front
of the Mansion during your last visit to Twilight Town.
Donald's weapon: Meteor Staff, found in the Ship Graveyard: Seadrift Keep,
in Port Royal. It's on the top level, I believe, near the
opening to the Black Pearl.
Goofy's skill: Learned after you defeat the three hyenas, Shenzi, Banzai,
and Ed, before fighting Scar in Pride Lands. It's the battle
where they're trying to kill Timon & Pumbaa.
Goofy's weapon: Genji Shield, earned after beating the Titan Cup in
Olympus Coliseum.
The accessory: Lucky Ring, obtained after beating the Pain & Panic Cup
in Olympus Coliseum.

12. Some Random Questions
-------------------------
Q: Hi, my name is John Smith, and I'm emailing to ask for your help with an
issue I'm facing. As managing director of Smith's European Banks, I've
found that a recent death has left a sum of $15,000,000 unclaimed, and...
A: WHEN I FIND YOU I WILL KILL YOU SPAM-BOT
Q: OK, so you get the "secret video" on Normal by completing the Journal.
What about the other modes?
A: Uh? I'm not sure why you'd ask me this question, as opposed to someone
who wrote a complete FAQ, or even just on the message board, but OK:
--Beginner: Go to Castle Oblivion. (You can't get it)
--Standard: Complete the Journal
--Proud: Seal all worlds. That means complete the Story in all of them.
Q: So, when you say that the Moogle going to level 9 cuts S-rank item prices
by half, does that mean I can just level my Moogle up to make the Ultima
Weapon instead of using an Energy Crystal?
A: First off, this method takes a lot longer, so I dunno why you'd try it.
Secondly, cutting prices in half only refers to items in the Creations
list, not items in Recipes or Free Development.
So, no.

Well, that's If you notice a definite error in what I've got so far, let
me know. I'll check it out and change it if necessary. Same goes if you think
I should add something in.
There's some copyright stuff I've never bothered to read as well, so go read
it yourself if you plan to copy this guide and put it somewhere without my
permission. And then kill yourself first, before I find you.
If you plan to copy it and put it somewhere else WITH my permission, well,
just email me.
