In addition, the main working environment of workers is outdoor, exposed to many rubbish but they are
fully equipped with necessary personal protective equipment and essential tools for work.
- However, workers working at the company have not really completed the task well. And still
many workers quit.
b) The causes & solution
According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory, the basic needs (salary, security,… so on ) have been
performed by the company fully for its workers. Thus it can be seen that workers' dissatisfaction is caused
by the last two needs of this theory.
In this case, a number of issues sap an employee’s motivation and also affect his/her productivity and
their dissatisfaction, including:
- Micromanagement: Provide direction and give assistance as and when required, but also trust the
employees and on their capabilities to carry out the task successfully without manager’s interference.
Give them freedom and let them do things their way to deliver results. So this company must say ‘NO’ to
Micromanagement.
Giving freedom to your employees not only keeps them happy and motivated but also encourages them to
perform better.
-Quality of Life: The number of working hours of workers reached nearly 50 hours a week and was not on
Sunday. This has an adverse effect on an employee’s morale and productivity.
Many are incorporating programs like flex-time, job sharing, and condensed workweeks to motivate
employees for increased productivity and at the same time accomplish the given tasks at work
successfully.
-Nonmonetary Incentives: Nonmonetary incentives that serve as positive motivators include
responsibility, recognition, and advancement. Employers and managers also need to recognize
employees’ small wins in order to promote participatory environments. In addition, it is imperative to
treat all employees equally with fairness and respect to create highly motivated working environment.
- Working environment: Peculiar work makes these workers tired. So the company need to strive to offer
an energizing environment that will motivate employees every day. For example, providing free
refreshments to workers at rest.
- Interaction with and Attention from Senior Managers: Communicate openly, frequently and honestly.
Senior managers need to hold meetings with all employees periodically and demonstrate the interest work
area of individual employee.
Small businesses should also implement an open door policy and encourage staff to discuss concerns,
share ideas and talk freely.
Congratulate employees on their personal life events such as wedding, new babies, purchase of new house
or cars, inquire about vacation trips, and more to connect with them and establish one-on-one
relationships.
-Reach Out to the Employees: Everyone likes to be heard and your employees are no exception.
Therefore, managers must listen to their opinions, and respect those ideas.
